Big point to keep in mind.

A lot of the developers in these corpo-studios applied to them in the first place with what could be described as... Contempt towards the people that they are supposedly coming to work for.
You can pretty much see it on a daily basis. Developers/people in creative roles who simply either hate the people playing their games, or they simply don't care for what they are working on in the first place.

Recently watched a video about one of the Diablo 5 narrative leads (I think that was her role there?) who was exposed as being someone who simply has no love or care for videogames, and thinks that combat and gameplay is an obstacle to getting to the next bit of story and narrative.
... It probably doesn't take a genius to figure out why that might be a problem.

So yeah, Private Servers are ultimately great, because they're typically run by people who actually like the game and don't hate everything about it, or the people who frequent them.
/thread
Why is it /thread? This is the hottest take in the whole thread, especially if the person they are talking about was actually a narrative lead. A narrative lead's job is to drive story and character development, they can do that and do a good job without liking video games as long as they respect the IP. Maybe the Diablo 5 narrative prefers tabletop over video games?

The narrative lead for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 never played a single game in her life before getting the job and being the lead writer for one of the most acclaimed rpg's produced recently.

George R.R. Margin was hired by FromSoftware to create the foundation history and mythology for Elden Ring and he's on record saying "Video games aren't really my thing"

There is a bit of a difference between "Not have played a videogame" or not considering videogames to be your cup of tea, and... Just not liking them altogether. Or not liking a particular type of videogame while working on exactly that kind of videogame.
It's like vegans deciding to go work at a burger restaurant. It just doesn't compute.

I don't consider it unreasonable to have the expectation that someone working on a videogame at least has SOME respect for whatever it is they're working on, and for who they're working for. And I'm not quite ready to give that narrative lead much benefit of the doubt that she'll do a good job.
I mean Hell, Diablo 4 already tried leaning heavily into the "Sympathy for the Devil" theme with Lilith, who is to say she won't try doubling down on it?

As far as the woman's credentials go: She worked on the Dragon Age games (Minus Veilguard to her credit), and apparently got slammed for making one of the characters come across as a gay sexpest. Which is really funny to me.
There is always a story to be told, in the heart of the soul.

I'll be leaving this shit server for good when it launches. I could not be happier.
You can fuck off right now, we wouldn't mind....
Also, tell us: did you already buy the completely lore-friendly gender-neutral sky-elves?

Don't forget the bunch of new dungeons they added. Also functional servers are a massive draw.
Yeah, that sure is IT:

Y'all mad because your already barely-on-life-support server is going to be a ghost town in seven weeks.

If the Octo devs were smart they'd combine with Raven because the population on both servers are about to plummet instead of perpetuating a silly tribal war between the two.
I love empty head Blizzsimps like yourself, absolutely zero understanding how to use your own brain... Have you forgotten how Blizzard treated every player years before Classic was launched? Let me quote on that for you since you lack cognitive skills to look for it yourself:

Former president of Blizzard Entertainment J. Allen Brack: "You don’t want to do that either. You think you do, but you don’t."

Now in case you don't remember (you probably don't, not a surprise anyways) this was his answer to fans asking if there is a possibility for Vanilla WoW realms to come back, so they can dive back into Vanilla memories. Non-directly telling everyone that they are stupid and have no clue what they want.

The moment they finally folded, Classic servers got overwhelmed with players... All that precious subscription money! And then the same circle started (TBC Classic, WOTLK Classic etc). People want to stay in Vanilla, they go with SoD. People still want to stay in Vanilla so they shuts down most popular servers and dish out yet another pathetic try to keep people playing. Of course people like you will gladly pay up and play like the loyal little doggies that you are.

Do us all a favor. Go and play your precious WoW Forever as out of context, far from making sense blue elf and leave us proper Vanilla fans alone.

Proper vanilla fans? Turtle WoW has a ton of retail features that aren't proper vanilla at all...Turtle Wow and Forever are completely different games.

Utterly embarrassing slop. Following Mark Kern on Twitter by any chance?

You guys really have a hate boner for him don't ye? I genuinely didn't even see D5 because when I was signed in on Youtube, I turned off watch history, miraculously got signed out and force fed it though, same with forever.

Let me guess since I seen Asmon there I'm heading over there right now? You wonder why we don't want to come back XD

I got Grummz blocked but 9/10 he's right about blizz.
