Forever looks awesome. Sure they race choice is bad. But you dont have to buy it. 30 bucks for it is a weird move, but i understand it. Would you rather they include wow tokens or level boosts? (They already said wont be in there) They have to monetize it somehow, and imho is this a great way to do it without watering down the gameplay! Dont like the new race? Dont buy it, and continue playing.

Forsaken Paladin is also a weird choice, but who cares? If they make the narrative fit, why not. Furthermore as stated a few times by other posters. We on turtle/octo play together with horde/alliance which is way worse. I, and many, really prefer little bit less faction imbalance with shaman and paladin, but still having the devide and not let alli and horde play together. Gives a better rivalry feeling! The rivalry feeling here is completely gone!

The rest, 60 forever, horizontal progression, A TON of new stuff for the leveling phase, improved professions, 1000 new quests, 600 new recipes, new dungeons/raids, awesome class reworks (dug into survival spec and dang looks awesome!!) are all big wins in my book.

The graphic overhault looks insane!!

They did SO MUCH that people asked for and wanted. Sure they copied a ton from turtle, epoch and other private servers, but thats what blizzard was alway known for. Take ideas, and make a great version of them.

I hate Blizzard like the next guy, but really, take a W and just be happy ffs.

Also this is not really "Classic". They never said so.Classic+ is right here for you to play on Octo and other PServers.
But what they have created looks incredibly promising! This is the best thing they revealed since a decade!
No, you obviously do not hate Blizzard at all, especially not as much as the next guy.

Yes, visually it looks decent (I haven't tried it, I just saw some clips, so I'm judging a bit blind). Improved lighting is nice and I hope other servers can steal that. Improved models I'm not sure, but they're probably either as good or maybe even slightly worse than our community mods (project reforged). But everything else from what I saw is pretty much the same. No improved textures, no improved models (or at best only a few), no other stuff. With the community mods you can make vanilla look almost like Legion.

What I would not agree with you at all is that what Blizz is doing is ok. It's actually not ok at all. And the fact that they "stole" everything from private servers makes it way worse. Apart from a few tiny things, you literally get a bad copy of private servers. And then they have the gall to ask for EVEN MORE MONEY. Did you forget that you have to pay the sub EVERY MONTH to play it? And saying you don't have to buy it is also not a good argument. You don't have to buy retail expansions either, but that locks you to level 20. "You can play, you don't have to buy it."

All of the rest that you mentioned like added quests and recipes and dungeons/raids.. that's literally the bare minimum, that's expected.

And it obviously is classic+, what else could it be? Not that it matters at all, but I don't get that claim.

It's not about not playing/ buying race. It's the fact that this race exists at all. It just shows fundamental misunderstanding of appeal of the classic. Classic Wow was about clear Faction identity, and they immediately dilute it with this addition, a race without faction commitment, a race without a real legacy because it was literally pulled out of ass. They stand out, and look completely alien next to both Horde and Alliance. It was unnecessary addition, and should be by any means removed. Their presence alone will ruin the immersion, especially on the Horde side. Because you know they don't belong here. They shouldn't be here.

Fabianku wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2026 4:43 pmForsaken Paladin is also a weird choice, but who cares? If they make the narrative fit, why not.
Watch the point above. If it's about the clear identity of playable race then forsaken paladins ruin that identity, because Forsaken were ABANDONED by the Light. They're Undead, they are light forsaken creatures. Consumed by spite, thirst for vengeance, who are cruel, and believe that ends justify the means, who are working on plague that would eradicate both the scourge and the living. Paladin goes strictly against their entire theme.

We on turtle/octo play together with horde/alliance which is way worse.

Which is only an issue if you play on PVE Server. On PvP it is not.

I, and many, really prefer little bit less faction imbalance with shaman and paladin, but still having the devide

Which is something that Turtle has provided. And did a great job on extra content. With the new one I see already red flags such as Dalaran appearing as if it wasn't destroyed at all. It was the same issue with retail. The complete disregard for consequences. The Disneyfication, the asspulling stuff. It shows the same pattern of mistakes that retail does.

It looks ok, but graphics alone don't make a good game.

They did inferior copy of Turtle. At least from the things they announced. Turtle was very rigid when it comes to new stuff they were implementing. I'm not saying they did everything flawlessly, but they kept the tone right. And I was very impressed with many callouts, references to the source, and expanding the quests that are complimenting the zone/ the setting. It's hard to say if Blizzard will do it as good. I'll be happy to be proven wrong, but assbrone are already proof to the contrary.
I hate Blizzard like the next guy, but really, take a W and just be happy ffs.
The game isn't even out yet. What are you talking about? And I am happy, I am happy that Octo resurrected Turtle. And I intend to play here. I'll check on Forever, but through videos and reviews, I'm not paying Blizzard.

The thing is that Blizzard shut down Turtle to give us this turd. It's thanks to Octo that all this hard work didn't go in vain. And yes it isn't Classic+, It's Retail -. But I do want to be wrong about the content, I want for them to deliver at least once, but there are lots of red flags appearing before this game is even out yet. And I'm sure they will make money off of it, on the assborne, and that the game will be popular, the game do have lots of nice stuff announced, but announcement and delivery are also two different things. But the question is - will the approach/ philosophy that led to retail downfall be applied in the WoW Forever?

I think that yes, because the same people that worked on retail, work here. I am not trusting this project because I got burned out too many times, to give benefit of the doubt. I'll believe it when I see it.
I love how you talk about faction identity and the essense of classic when turtle wow literally has cross faction dungeons, raids and pvp as well as a retail cash shop LOL!!!

It's more like WoW 2 rather than classic +. I think you and the other pserver players that are anti-blizzard are hyper focused on that when I personally just want a good product that wont shut down or get ddos and have dead server pop.

You're simping for a server that has cross faction grouping. I don't know why you're upset about Blizzard doing Horde Paladins and Alliance Shamans.
You dont have to play on the pve server... that comment is more of a self dis on your intelligence.

In one post I see a guy say "the lighting in forever looks cool. Hopefully private servers can steal that." And then immediately shade blizzard for "stealing" ideas from private servers.

In another post I see a guy argue that undead can't be paladins because of lore reasons and shouldn't be allowed to use The Light. Hello... they've been able to be priests from the start of WoW. Also one of the 4 horsemen in Naxx (Zeliek) is literally an undead paladin that attacks people with holy damage.

This thread is silly

It's about the same as Kronos at its lowest point. And I know cuz I was on Kronos II and III. I also created the 29 twink guilds for Kronos III which had enough hype on reddit at the time people read about my guilds on reddit and joined kronos to join them but I didnt even have a reddit account at the time (because I always saw reddit as a cesspool of over sensitive losers)

Even when the pvp server only has 100 people online it still feels more active than the classic server I had to queue to log into, due to no layers.

That being said I am hearing the layering system is much better in Forever and the guild mates I have that play it tell me they have never ended up in an empty layer. Time will tell. But yeah my comment still stands. I guess you just need to find a shepard to herd you where you want to be because you cant do it your self.

The way I see it, all the people gushing over WoW forever did not learn their lesson the last several dozen times Blizzard has pulled on people's nostalgia by making promises that turned out to be lies, making it "seem" like they listen to players in beta to launch only to bait and switch dogshit into their game a patch later.

Do not be fooled, blizzard will listen to complainers and add more casual slop, they will put wow token in there, they will simplify the combat, and so on. Classic fans seem to have forgotten why they put their foot down when they said no changes. It's not that wow fans do not want new things in their wow classic experience. It's the fact that blizzard has shown, time and again, that they cannot be trusted with any change they do to a video game because they will just turn it into retail as well.

Even if we ignore all that and focus on the "cool" new content, Blizzard can still not deter botting in their games to the point, it's obviously on purpose at this point. After all, if bots inflate gold prices, blizzard can justify injecting wow token into WoW Forever, and at that point they can make more money from bots continuing to inflate the price, so there is zero incentive to fix it, which is why a private server does it better in that regard.

Then we also cannot forget that fact that we live in 2026. WoW forever is going to have a social problem because we live in a time where everyone has to walk on eggshells. That is why no one uses a chat function in wow beyond the bare minimum for selling and looking for groups. Why use social features in a video game what that can just get your account banned? This is why private servers beat that also, because while there is some comb over on bad behavior, it's not nearly as bad as Blizzard's social contract.

People aren't Dumb. We don't trust Blizzard. However, you'd be blind to not see that the best time to play WoW Forever is NOW BEFORE they add a whole bunch of crap to it. How is this any different from joining a private server that will eventually get shut down? Turtle WoW players lost everything and immediately jump ship to another pserver that can't protect itself from DDOS from its rivals stealing the same code lol. WoW Forever is the funnest experience right now. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Ur trippin. 1000 players is already pretty low especially for leveling and grouping for dungeons. WoW Forever has 1 server per ruleset. It's endless supply of people. I hate the sharding and layers but i dont have problems getting groups or getting help for quests. And this is just the beta, not even the full release...

Funny you mention that;

ORIGINALLY. It was something you had to opt into when it was just TURTLE WOW. You'd go to a major capital for your faction (SW or Org) and talk to a "Diplomat" NPC, who would give you an item that let you Xfaction group and speak. They made it baseline at some point after I stopped playing for a bit, when I came back I still had it and the old slow and steady item in my bag.

Lore wise Horde and Alliance post 3rd war are more in a Cold War than anything, things like the BGs are basically "border skirmishes" and not full blown battles in a hot war. Xfaction makes sense in that there are things in the world that the Horde and Alliance have as a common enemy or goal, so grouping up together to tackle it makes sense. It's not everyone's thing, I get. But when Turtle was small it helped the RP scene as well as helped people find dungeon and questing groups.

Horde V Alliance is still a thing, just not full blown war. Most of the war is arguably against the Burning Legion and the Scourge. The Incursion into Zul Gurub would be more akin to a Policing Conflict like the Korean or Vietnam war
