Yeah you are right. My bad.
I wouldn't apologise for it.

Not after this :

Because these people are activists, and they bring activism to the game, effectively ruining the world with such a blatant exhibition. And in this case effectively ruining the fantasy of playable race.
What the hell is this?

The reasons are endless not to trust the hype

1. The paywalled race is a huge red flag from the start. It shows that blizzard is already starting to monetize and enshittify the game right at the outset. Not to mention that the blue sky smurf is pulled out of thin air lore wise. By accepting and buying this package, players are telling blizzard they'd be willing to do it once, so why not again? It sets a precedent and blizzard will notice

2. A lot of the hype is manufactured and nostalgia is doing much of the heavy lifting. Blizzard invites streamers to their hq and collaborates with them. Wait until the hype dies down and more organic voices start giving their options. Upgraded fog and water details are nice but when that excitement fades we'll be left with the game and whatever blizzard decides to do with it. Historically that has meant monetizing and milking it. There is no reason to think this time will be different.

3. Blizzard as a company is objectively awful. It's owned by Microsoft and has a long history of busting unions and creating unsafe work environments for their team (see "bill cosby room")

4. Oh yeah, and Blizzard killed turtle wow. Rewarding them for that by giving them subs is exactly what they want and the kind of incentive that will keep them coming after private servers

a new 2day mini holiday called "Darkspear Dash" where the trolls run to Silvermoon as a rainbow parade. And the money made that day will go to support Trevor Project- a very shady company.

Originally there were some community events but it was called "run of the gnomes" and players run from Gnomeregan to Stormwind. And then they did "Run of trolls" (I guess because of colorful hair?) There is literally nothing about trolls that should make a connection between their lifestyle and this eyesore of an event.
And by naming it "Darkspear Dash" they made it cultural for playable race. Which is absolutely unacceptable.

You're talking about a very small tribe! They should be doing the absolute opposite - if their survival depends on their numbers, and therefore population, the last thing they'd do would celebrate unions that doesn't provide offspring. It's suicidal.

Funny thing is they later tied Midsummer holiday to Tauren, but Tauren got proper culturally fitting additions, Sunwalker themed weapons and cosmetics. And honestly good for them.

If developers really wanted to add mini holiday that would appeal to everyone and fit the trolls- then why not some sort of olympics themed? They could borrow from Hearthstone and Rastakhan Rumble expansion, where all the roads lead to Gurubashi arena and you can side with the tribe of your choice.

In here you would focus on physical excellence, competition, display of strength and tribalism.

But no, apparently it's cultural for Darkspears to wear now clown clothes and run to Silvermoon to celebrate inclusivity, equity and some other un-trollish shit.

This is the reason I'll never step again in retail ever. My main for many years was a troll shaman. And seriously f*ck this shit. No one asked for it. And it fits like fist to the nose.

Glad you are staying away, could you ask the rest of the bigots to join you? I swear you people crying about pride is a lot less tolerable than gay culture - why are you obsessed with what other men do with their dicks?

Pretty much all this. The new race being behind a paywall is a massive red flag. The other red flags are it being an asspull of a race, lore wise. As well as being a neutral race, something that is basically what retail does with its allied races now. the red flag not mentioned is this is to attract money. pure and simple. the asian market is the biggest buyer of "pretty races" stuff. not that its a problem on it's own, but it ruins the faction identity when you have a race that is hard to distinguish at a distance, it'll make PVP hell to deal with.

The hype is half real, half manufactured. I give it like 2-3 months before cracks start showing. Hell they're showing right now with the whol Asmonbald shit. The guy is just "there" for me, but the fact people are losing their shit over him to the point they want not only him banned, but they want the actions of people not him, attributed to him, is insane. And mind you, you'll be sharing a floorspace with these people who are not only touched in the head, but Right Click Report makes them Lindsay Clancy with post partum depression and you one of her kids.

Cosby room was found to be fake. California Courts basically manufactured the breast milk of mannoroth (sadly) story and the cosby room thing. Basically a push to infest Blizz with more DEI shit.

Blizz killed Turtle and other Vanilla+ servers to cannibalize. Forever has Epoch's profession system at basically 1:1. The armor patches giving stam last I checked is a Turtle idea. the camp system is just tents from Turtle's Survival prof. Which itself is based ENTIRELY around the cut Survival Profession Blizzard themselves had started work on in early builds of Vanilla.

Because the reality is that "pride" shit is usually shoved in in a very poorly thought out way. its like being in a dark room and suddenly coming face to face with a monitor that turns on at full brightness and temporarily blinds you for a few seconds, but it also hurts to keep looking at in the darkened room. It's shoved in for the sake of jingling keys for people who need their life choices reaffirmed on a consistent basis and it's caused massive amounts of burn out. For everyone else, its jarring and takes you out of the world because its not an analogue to something from the real world. it's flat out something from the real world shoved into the fictitious one.

I see people say "its not a big deal to add it", then why is it a big deal when it's not added? why is it a big deal when its suddenly critiqued for feeling out of place?

Call me again when Kel'Thuzad starts shitting rainbow spells, until then you keep on lazer focusing about 0.01% of the content in the game that you could just ignore. The moaning and outcry from you folks is ridiculous.

But to make it short - I don't care what you do irl. Your life, your business. But could the activists like you, keep it to yourselves and not shove it to the game and effectively ruining the fantasy setting? Is it really that hard?

Again, hyper focus on 0.01% of the game, then pretending that I am somehow misrepresenting what your post is really about. Your post tells me so all I need to know about you.

My post was a response to somebody else asking what was it about to give further context. And I don't care if it's 0.01% of the game time or even less. This stuff has no right to be in game. Period. They could've add something more fun for the holiday that fits the world of Warcraft and not LA. And that is IF there was even need for extra holiday.

It's the boiling of the frog tactic that got us to where retail is right now. And right now Warcraft is completely unrecognisable, and it's always thanks to detractors who's baseline response is "why do you care?! It's just one tiny thing!".

You somehow think the game is made for YOU. It’s not. Do you know what my wife likes to do? She picks flowers, not because she wants to make potions, but because it’s nice picking flowers. My son does not understand much of the game, but he likes to dress in silly clothes. He also thinks blue elves are cool, skyborn or night elf.

Now I get that you tough guys like to gatekeep the "old classic WoW" as some sort of sacred thing that must never contain anything you personally dislike, but that has never been what WoW is. It has always been full of silly references, ridiculous costumes, seasonal events and things that barely fit your supposedly serious fantasy setting.

Nobody is forcing you to participate. It is a tiny optional event that some people will enjoy, most people will probably ignore, and then everyone moves on with their lives. Yet somehow its mere existence is enough for you to declare that it has "no right" to be in the game.
