Level gaining

Is it normal that two players with the same level (1), same race (high elf) and different class (hunter and mage) are gaining different amount of XP for mob killing? I mean, we are in party, we are doing first high elves quest (killing boars for their meat) and my mage was gaining more XP than hunter... No matter who was killing a boar. I've got 29 XP (for example), hunter got 14 and so on... Moreover, killing of a boar itself gives different XP time to time. Is it normal?

If one player is getting half the experience, is that one on the slow and steady challenge? Trying to help diagnose.
