Invisible PC tied to unknown items

Hello, I am seeing a behavior and I'm not sure how to fix it permanently.

When I log in or occasionally pick up an item it displays in my bag as a red question mark with no item name on mouseover. If I log in like this my character is invisible and the portrait both in the corner and on the toolbar is blank. I'm able to play normally and interact with the world. When I hop on a griffon the grif also becomes invisible. When I press C to open up my character sheet my model displays as all white. which is cool but it is still.some sort of error.

If I log out and delete everything in the WDB folder then usually when I restart and log in everything is fixed but if I log in on an alt then that may be broken in a similar way. The items aren't new either to wow or my character. last time it was just all the enchanting essences. I've disabled all addons and the behavior still persists.

Any idea why this happens and how I can fix it?

New Behavior.

Deleting WDB results in mobs being "invalid target" for the frostbolt shortcut on my bar when I log in. Casting frostbolt directly from my spellbook works fine.

I've had similar behavior to yours. Are you using Linux? I reduced some of these issues by using Proton 9 instead of Proton 11. But I am having issues now where periodically, info about items does not load in. I need to full close and exit the game to fix it, but it usually comes back after a while.

My WDB clears on launch, so it's possible something is getting messed up in the cache while it's running. But also possible it's a server issue.

Update: I was having these issues again. It turns out that the issue was the Render Distance setting set in the OctoWoW launcher. It recommended a value of 3000 for my PC which I had set. But clearly that is too much. My theory is the server can't fulfill the amount of request data at once when you load in with the high Render distance. I changed my value to 1200 and all the quest data, items and other PC gear shows again! And this value is still much higher than the vanilla 777.
