Well i disagree with the OP

Launch a PvP relam, but done properly, with new and very much required pvp game mechanics
Then, and only then, the server will get populated very naturally, becuase the pvp community is out there, waiting for something proper to play finally

The main issue of any classic/vanilla pvp server is once you hit lvl 60, the open world pvp kinda dies out, because the whole game is not designed to be played out there, it narrows down to spamming boring default BGs and thats it
Everyone is out there, because you are trying to lvl up, do quests, etc, and the open world pvp happends as an addition, that should not be the case. You should be out there to pvp, even at low lvl and especialy at max lvl.

If the core game mechanics would be reworked, giving open world a constant reason to be out there, pvping, the new realm could be the next hottest thing.

Exactly what this dude is saying. I am no game developer and ideas are sure popping in my mind, so i guess that professionals can come up with lots of things to make this work. Just some bulletpoints from my side:
1. Blizz tried to make it work via king of the hill in outland. Ofc this did not work since flying mounts make it impossible to have these fights and there was also no actual rewards for doing those events.
2. Weekly Events on areas that guarantee access to quests or other form of content which lead to special mounts (no gear since the winning side would grow even stronger and completely overtake the server)
3. Weekly Events for special titles or cosmetic gear.
The above are just off the top of my head....people with experience can think of many more i am sure.

Refrain from dooming, the server is new and the devs are probably working their asses off in order to resolve bugs and bring us the PvP server. It is highly possible that they do not yet have spare time to browse the forums. I am glad we share views for the game that we love. Stay patient and provide useful insight as to what players, like yourself, wanna see implemented.

Oh we are lurkin, just don't want to be influencing the conversations too much while we plan and nail down what we want to do. We also have a policy of not contributing to the suggestions section but do look at all of them there too

with epoch dead, ascension about to be a fish out of water, and kronos 5 pop dying due to bugs and stale content; a pvp server using custom vanilla would be a fantastic and successful hail mary play.
