Raid Scaling Changes

A bug report pointed out some mobs were scaling down dramatically when a raid went from 30 players to 29. The developer investigating found this to be a common issue accross many raid mobs and took this as a chance to clean up raid scaling more broadly while fixing this bug. Please find more information on the adjustments below.

How raids scale post patch
• Raids still scale down creature health based on raid size but now do so evenly with no sharp drops.
• The smaller the raid compared to the expected raid size, the harder (per player) it is.
• This is the same as before, numbers have just changed.
• Keep in mind the additional loot per player with smaller raid sizes as well.
• Creature health and melee damage scales such that at 20/12 players in a 40/20 man raid, creatures will have 15% more health and damage per player.
• So a DPS check will require 15% more DPS per player if there are 20 people in a 40 person raid. This is compared to requiring 100% more DPS per player if there were no scaling.

These creatures previously had extra reductions that switched on below a certain raid size. They now scale exactly like every other creature in their raid.
• ZG, Bloodseeker Bats and Zulian Prowlers: in any raid of fewer than 20 they had half health and half damage
• MC, Flamewakers (Gehennas), Flamewaker Protectors (Lucifron), Core Ragers (Golemagg): these hit 25% softer in raids of with less than 30
• MC, Garr's Firesworn: these where adjusted to scale normally on the September 29 update

Smaller changes
• Other effects that raise a raid creature's health now work the same at every raid size. Before, below a full raid, some were cancelled out by raid scaling and others could reset the creature to full-raid health.

Not changed
• Boss spell damage does not scale with raid size, except attacks that use the boss's weapon damage, such as Cleave.
• Item drops do not depend on raid size.

[Eemo]

• Call to Arms now lasts a full week and rotates through Alterac Valley, Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin and Thorn Gorge, switching every Wednesday at 02:00 UTC

Dear Kestrel,

Can this change in particular be reviewed again before pushing it live?

One of the very fun part of PvPing on Octowow/Turtlewow was you get you have different bonus days.

I don't understand why Octowow team decided to take this away from players. Doesn't seem to make any sense here.

Please, kindly review this again.

Updated, thank you for pointing this out. Someone had extended it in response to complaints about the clutter on the calendar.

Hello Kestrel!

Thank you and your team for all your hardwork.

I wanted to know if you would add the rest of the donation items to the shop.
I really want to keep donating and purchase the items I used to have in TWoW, such as the Black/gold version of the Robes of insight, The Gray Deathcharger and the Tmog NPC.

Is adding the rest of the missing donation items in your plans? If so please add them I am more than willing to donate to get them!

Any chance of removing the battleground days of ones currently not in use? Bloodring and Thornvalley; having 2/5 days of the rotation have no bonus really sucks.

Wanted to second this. Not sure about Bloodring since I never really participated in it so no idea how popular it is these days, but Thorn Gorge hasn't shown any signs of life since the day of its' release back on twow due to there being nothing to that battleground other than the battleground itself.

It is fully understandable if the team is too busy with more pressing matters at the moment and we may not be able to see the completed version of Thorn Gorge for some time, so it may be reasonable to disable that bg altogether until then.

Please dont add all items from old Donation Shop.

The Gray Deathcharger is similar to Strat UD mount which is ultra rare.
Tamed Rak'Shiri made the grind to get mount in Wintersrping feel like nothing.
Armored Brown Boar also not deeded, do boaring challenge or farm boar in low lvl dungeon.

Devs already made a post about this, they told us they didnt include Scarlet Charger since they would include in future content.

Hope they continue in this direction, Octowow does not have to be the same as Turtlewow, but BETTER.

Thanks for this. Would also be nice if we could remove blood ring and thorn gorge from the rotation seeing as nobody ever plays them.

You do know there are other mounts that are similar to other rare/unobtainable mounts that are already rare? Such as Tigers and Raptors being available for both factions without having to grind for them
I dont see the negative in adding them since you can still grind for your other mounts, there are people like myself that want to donate to the server but there arent any other items we want except for those.
Having less donation items does not make the game better since if your logic really did apply then why even have donation items at all instead of making all those items obtainable?

I want to support the server by investing in cosmetic items I want for my character since I already bought everything else I wanted from the shop. And unfortunately the server doesnt run on feelings it runs on money and I want to be able to gain a purely cosmetic benefit in exchange for it.
