OCTOBER FORUM TRANSMOG COMPETITION

Is that a sudden chill in the air? Have the shadows grown longer in Duskwood?

While the drums of war beat on, the spookiest season of the year has arrived! It's time to trade your shining armor and tabards for something a little more sinister. We are calling all heroes to participate in our October Forum Transmog Competition!

Since we know the ghoulies and ghosts prefer to lurk in the dark corners of the world, this month's contest is a Transmog Screenshot Competition hosted right here on the forums. Show us what bumps in the night! Are you a wicked witch brewing potions in Tirisfal Glades? A cursed pirate haunting the shores of Stranglethorn? Or a mad scientist lurking in the Undercity?

• Equip Your Terror: A true master of disguise always has their props. We highly encourage you to hold items that fit your theme, whether it's a glowing lantern for a gravedigger, a cursed blade, or a witch's broomstick. Bonus points if you catch your character mid-emote (/cackle, /roar, or mid-spellcast)!

The witching hour approaches! Scour the haunted, hidden corners of Azeroth for your perfect frightful attire.

We are dying to see your screenshots! Drop them in the replies below!

Captain Sam never abandoned ship, not even in death. Sailors swear the light drifting over the old wreck in the Swamp of Sorrows is his, still standing watch over his treasure chest.

Once upon a time, long ago, there lived a priestess named Briseis.
Hailing from the town of Darkshire, she was afflicted by a terrible curse: on Halloween nights when the moon was full, she would transform into a shadow priestess to slay the guardians of the cursed tower!
To this day, the event repeats itself endlessly, year after year...

So at first I read about this event ingame actually since thankfully a GM wrote that in world chat. At first I thought it was just a transmog event, not knowing it has a theme attached to it. So then I have been thinking really hard, even more so than usual which rarely happens, as of what could even scare the seasoned heroes of Azeroth. They raid these spooky places early with Shadowfang Keep, midway trough then the Temple of Atal'Hakkar and finally Stratholme and Scholomance on a daily basis multiple times. They even eagerly await this fabled 'Naxxramas' which must be the spookiest place of them all.

So it can't be skeletons, ghouls, zombies or what not that spooks these champions. Thinking more about it I came to the conclusion that there are other things they are afraid of. The first that came to mind was simply the cost itself of various goods, be it consumables, materials, gear and everything else that causes the gold in their pockets to melt away. This is the reason for my background. Deep inside Shadow Hold in Jaedenar Lord Banehollow sells trough his servant Ur'dan a necessary ingredient to aspiring warlocks on their quest to obtain the Dreadsteed of Xoroth. For a spooky price of one hundred and fifty gold pieces. Truly diabolical and a total scare to anyone with meager purses.

The second part of the submission for this event is the transmog itself. Every true fashionista will tell you that the Venomshroud/Hibernal set is an absolute fashion sin. They are all deeply scared of it, so much even that they rank it highly in 'ugliest transmogs ever' listings. Searching this up will yield results often displaying especially the chest and leg piece of this set. Putting FOUR pieces of this set on at once will shock these connoisseurs of stylish apearances far more than any cheap halloween spook.

I want to add to the two other pictures as a side note. You turn purple when drinking a shadowy potion which is necessary for the denizens of Jaedenar to become friendly to you, in order to interact with them. Gorzeeki Wildeyes in hindsight sells you three of these for a small but still scary price of five gold coins. You will drink the first one to get to Lord Banehollow, then lose it's effect in order to progress a quest there, drink your second one and unprepared warlocks will discover now the shokingly steep price for some mere xorothian dust.

The last picture showes the effect a disgusting oozeling, a rare pet has on it's owner. Turning intensely green which even carries over to his effects. These pets can be found in the oozing bags, left behind by the slimes and oozes in Felwood.

I had to turn the original screenshots from ~1mb png to below 100kb jpg, so sadly the resolution is a bit smeary

Why do so many think of trolls when they think of voodoo? Well, that's because nobody who encounters a Voodoo Gnome live to tell the tale, or risk becoming one themselves...

You call her a witch. I call her the nightmare waiting behind your dreams. When the candles die and the whispers begin, she will find you in the darkness... and you will not wake.

Do not mistake her tears for weakness. Even nightmares can weep... but their tears are not born from sorrow. They are the last thing you will ever see before the darkness takes you.
