Could this be fixed by increasing the number of battlegrounds you can queue at one time? Most people will default queue WSG, AB, AV just because they're more likely to get a game.

Thorn gorge has no marks or reputation rewards and simply just isnt worth doing, we dont see thorn because its pointless to qeue over AB.
