The whole framing of tying this argument to PvE power levels is stupid. A few pieces are a small upgrade for some classes. It’s nothing gamebreaking and that small advantage for a handful of people has been achieved by a lot of effort!
Keep in mind the many hours invested for that.


The much more important part is, delaying the release would completely destroy battlegrounds.
It will make many players quit, thus also affecting the pvpers that don’t care about the gear, because they have less people to play with.
It will create a huge unfair advantage for pve players in battlegrounds, further accelerating a death spiral for battleground population

The comments just keep getting funnier. "Wait 2.5 months," "wait a month," "wait two weeks"—what a load of nonsense. Or how about "increase the cost to 280,000 honor"? I’d love to see these people sit there grinding out 280,000 honor for this pathetic set—only for a developer to show up, claim their mood has shifted, and come up with some new excuse to deny you the reward you spent all that time earning. I’m still in shock that we’re sitting here begging for something that is rightfully ours—something that was originally created for the Blackwing Lair content phase. It’s honestly hilarious. And it’s even funnier listening to people talk about "unfair advantages" and the like. Where were all of you back when this armor set didn’t exist, and people were using the classic version—which they even wore into Naxxramas? And, believe it or not, that set also became available during the BWL phase. You people are ridiculous. Think ten times before you post anything. Personally, I’m not expecting anything anymore; I just drop by to have a good laugh at these folks. If this set doesn’t drop on the 1st, then I guess it’s not meant to be—I’ll just head over to "Forever" . If it does come out, I might play a bit more. Honestly, I’m just tired of waiting around here, hoping that someone might actually listen.

There is no "middle ground" or "compromise" to be made. Either release the gear on day 1 (the time the developers intended for it to be released) or don't. Either spit on the entire pvp community, or don't. It is your server. You get to choose whether it will have a thriving, active battleground scene or not.

Hey! Will we be getting a new update in regards to the PVP gear?

I am too under the impression that waiting for the end of january is too long and might drive players away. I too feel that my time spent on grinding honor spesifically for the gear release with BWL feels wasted now with the current decisions you've posted so far. I really hope that you concider moving the release of the PVP gear to either the BWL launch day - or 2-4 weeks after, if the concern is that the first impression of the raid will be affected if people have access to the new sets.

I know people might disagree, and I've tried to see both sides. But I don't agree with the notion that the new gear is a free pick up - as it requires weeks of intense playing to be able to afford the gear. It's not nearly as accessible as the blue gear we currently have

I cincerely hope you release it with BWL, I've been grinding so much to be ready for launch, and I really don't want to have nothing to do other than raid logging until the end of january

I understand not wanting to make BWL too easy at launch by introducing PvP gear that’s as good as T2, or even better in some cases. However, a delay of 1–2 weeks should be enough.

A longer delay would make PvP grinding pretty much pointless for those of us who have already farmed 100k honor. It would also mean that PvE-geared players would dominate BGs, since blue PvP gear simply isn’t good enough to compete against players wearing T2.

It would probably be really unpopular now, but they should have just said from the start that there would be an honor reset between pvp tiers. It is a bit entitled to think you should be able to start the T2 phase in full T2 PvP gear because you farmed honor during the T1 phase. Same would apply to the T3 phase. Saying it won't impact PvE is a bit disingenuous as well since some of it is good for certain specs. T2 PvP gear is bis for tank shaman and would be a pretty big advantage going into BWL. That said, it also sucks that I won't have any real upgrades until ES launch now.

Hey everyone,

We’ve read your feedback on the Epic PvP Gear being tied to AQ40, and we get where you’re coming from.

The reason we don’t want to release it alongside BWL is the same one some of you have raised:
players would be walking around in full PvP gear on Day 1 that’s equal to T2 from BWL.
(Yes we can see your honor, and some of you have a lot and would be instantly fully kitted)

We did some research and looked into the numbers, and gearing up a full T2 set takes about 6-8 weeks on average in WoW Classic. And with the following decision we believe its the perfect middle ground.

Because of that, we’ve decided to move the Epic PvP Gear to Eternal Sanctum release in January, which lands 2 and a half months after the BWL release.

One thing to keep in mind: this will leave a big gap between Rank 13 and Rank 14.

Its not equal to T2 in terms of DPS-ing or healing - or even tanking when you account for powerful tier bonuses. Shouldnt base this on the stamina tank value, lower the stamina if you deem it that big of an issue. Do not delay the sets, its unfair towards pvp players, and will absolutely result in lower playtime, upgrades are a crucial part of the game. Cant afford to slip up like this with WoW forever around the corner - most pvpers wont keep playing if theres no upgrades to get, and then when you do release this set it wont even be that relevant because T2 of some classes beats it, and AQ gear too.

We were already given the powerful rare set for MC, along with a lot of new items which are far beyond MC level. Go class by class and consult the top players, the tier set bonuses are too good to pass on. Some classes wont take PvP set over T2 for PvP, or PvP set over AQ 40 set. As a hunter i wont be using any part of the PvP set come AQ time because T2 attack power proc just beats it, so does elemental shaman lightning/lightning shield expenditure etc etc
