It does seem like an interesting choice. Not many will agree with guild banks pushed away from major cities, but I'm also a sucker for adventure, so I can't say I'm mad about it. This plan sounds better to my ears.
Thank you for the response.

EDIT: Mareb does have a point there, but I'd want to see how it plays out first.
Though I'd want to say that, if it still goes by old TWoW standards, guild tabards will be used to teleport to your guild house. It would give ease of access to it in a way. Just not near an auction house.
Thank you for the measured response and being open to seeing how it develops. We hope that it all pulls together and feels good once the full system is implemented!
From a pvp perspective, giving players one less reason to be in a major city and pushing them into the world seems like a positive to me. I could see a lot of opportunities for more pvp happening particularly on the pvp server so I'm actually pretty curious and maybe a little excited to see how this plays out.

WoD did this and they reverted to major cities in the very next expansion because of how much it negatively impacted the 'MMO feel' in the MMO.

Planning to have important player services that complement existing services inside cities, outside of those cities, is 100% a mistake imo.
Perk of being in a guild, which should be encouraged, imo.

You absolutely do not need a guild bank unless you are in guild... that's obvious... and there is nothing more social than joining a guild.

There are all kinds of guilds I see recruiting... socials / raiders / leveling... ya people should find a guild that suits them and join.

My guild used GB on twow extensively, here - nobody bothers, literally because its only in BB, that's the only reason. You actually killed the feature completely with this...
What a disappointment...

I'll be honest, there's already too much friction running a guild. Making us jump through more hoops to manage a guild just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It's already too much work, man. It's already a thankless job. Making the people that operate guilds jump through more hoops just seems like a bad idea. I think we should be focusing on having guild leaders *not* burn out.

This was a serious issue on Turtle in my opinion, and it impacted a lot of people. Everyone puts time in to a guild, not just the leadership, right. But when that leadership crumbles, or gets burned out, all the work of all the members goes to shit.

Having the guild bank in Booty Bay will make less people engage with it naturally, and have more guild members relying on Officers. More people asking what's in the Bank instead of just going to look. Etc etc. It's just an annoyance, and if it's just an annoyance for the sake of being an annoyance then ehhh. For example even with the Guild Bank in Org I was constantly asked what was in it, people are lazy and don't want to look. I was pretty firm about telling people to just check themselves, but now that it'll be in Booty Bay and I'll need an alt there, I think it's entirely reasonable for people to ask me to check it on my alt instead of them spending five or ten minutes flying there to check it themselves. And I'm sorry man but when you're running a guild you are recieving a lot of random messages, a lot of random quests, and even if you love the guild it does get tiring having your gameplay constantly interrupted with these requests and this change will 100% lead to more of that.

I do understand the friction concept, it's something I fully support in general, but managing a guild is already a lot of work, it's already a TON of friction, and that's really not where we need more friction. I don't think this specific change is like a nail in the coffin, or anything like that, but it's just another factor that will make operating a guild more of a headache.

It shall <3
This will lead to more disparity between the big guilds and the small guilds as well, and that disparity is already pretty large.

Don't get me wrong I'd obviously want the Guild House to have the Tabard teleport, but in combination with the Guild Bank only really being easily accessed from there, or otherwise requiring an alt sitting in Booty Bay and telling your guild members to run to Booty Bay every time they have a question about what's in the guild bank etc etc, it'll basically be a bare minimum for guilds to have, and I'm not sure what the guild house will cost, I believe it was 4000g on Turtle, and the Bank is 2000g here, so if you want to have a guild with your friends and actually try to recruit for raiding you're gonna need 6000g first essentially. Otherwise why would anyone join you, when other guilds offer a Guild House with a Guild Bank, and the Teleport associated with the Guild House.

Do we want the guild ecosystem on the server to be extremely top heavy?
