Toxic behavior is toxic behavior regardless of what mode it's in.

But hey if those are the rules, then those are the rules. I won't be turning off warmode and if toxic gameplay is encouraged for people who have it turned on, then I'll partake too. If that's the kind of server culture you want to promote, then let's do it.
I'm so confused. I've never played a PvE/Warmode server before. You're telling me they could just - turn it off and be completely safe from the ganker? Why didn't they just do that?

it's pvp, it's supposed to be toxic and completely unfair at times.

see there's this lovely thing called a choice, and you have a choice to activate warmode and engage in pvp or not.

another alternative is to move to a different zone to quest, or call for high level help.

this advice is free of charge.

Pretty sure "ganging up" requires more than a single player.

Also, "camping" refers to one player repeatedly killing another character. One kill does not constitute "camping".

Players choose War Mode in order to receive a benefit. There's a quid pro quo. It's a choice.

It's like choosing to join a rugby team then complaining rugby (pvp mode) is too violent and physically mean to people. You can join another sport like golf or chess (pve mode).

Also, toxicity is subjective and a moot point.

People were quick to jump on warmode here, but the actual meat of this thread is a level 60 camping lowbies. Doesn't matter if it's the pvp server or pve with warmode - it's bad for Octo. Even the rogue who camped Morgan's Vigil 24/7 to get high warlord on TWoW Tel'abim refused to kill greys and that guy was a bloodthirsty savage. But DrFaust takes it many steps further by camping greys in Westfall, Loch Modan, and Darkshore. He's actually killing these people in what most pvp'ers consider uncontested zones, and your words are defending his behavior - yikes. Not a good look for the community.

Thankfully, the devs are actively trying to disincentivize this because they know it's bad for community/business/server health to allow it to happen on servers with small populations like Octo. Hmm...upset many players or upset a handful of asshats. Seems like a no brainer.

I participated in this thread because I was hoping to get an idea of where the devs stand. I understand they won't respond here, but it's pretty clear which people are on the right side of the issue based on dev announcements and actions. I've been vindicated, and thanks to this thread, I also have a pretty good idea how Joe Bauers from Idiocracy felt throughout that whole movie.

Oh - and for the "warmode is a choice" crowd. If that's going to be the mantra, then Octo needs to be more clear about the fine details of what that choice means. Right now the tooltip on character select just says "PVP is enabled" it doesn't say anything about non-contested zones being fair game (a huge surprise for people who have played exclusively on pvp servers). Or that GMs will allow high level griefing/camping low levels in what most people consider starter zones - so don't submit a ticket asking about it. Or a "you can die within minutes of entering the game for your first time".

Just to test, I had my friend make a level 1 orc on the PVE server with warmode on and I was able to kill him pretty much right away. Prior to this, I was told by a GM that I can camp people if they have warmode on - so technically camping the level 1-5's near The Den is fair play. If someone can do that to level 1-5's and prevent them from playing, then what's the point of warmode? What's the difference between that and doing it to level 10 - 20's? Oh - you're gonna go kill the griefer to protect the lowbies? They'll be gone by the time you get there and deflagged within 5 minutes. How bout not letting them deflag for 48 hours? Or making non-contested zones work on the PVE server like they do on the PVP server?

That's all I needed to say. I'm done with the thread now. Thanks for reading.
