Request to review a ban

Hello everyone,

I would like to appeal a ban that was recently placed on several accounts belonging to my family. Before going into details, I would like to briefly explain the delay. Shortly after the incident, my family and I left for a longer vacation during which my children could not play at all. We have now returned home and would very much like to resume playing together. I had also tried to contact a GM privately before we left, but did not receive a reply.

My two children and I play together on this server. On the afternoon in question, we ran a dungeon as a group. My son and I were each using two accounts on two separate devices, and my daughter was playing on her own PC.

At a particularly difficult point we wiped. Since we then had to leave together for a family dinner, we simply revived our characters and left them inside the dungeon rather than having to run the long way back later. To keep them from being logged out, we had set up our devices to send a brief input every five minutes. We are now aware that this may violate the server rules. We sincerely apologize and will of course not do this again.

When we returned, all accounts except one had been logged out. On the one still logged-in, I could see that a GM had apparently tried to contact us during our absence. I attempted to explain the situation, whereupon the GM stated that he suspected us of multiboxing and advised us to describe the situation in the forum.

Before starting on the server, we had carefully read the rules and understood that my son and I were each allowed to use two accounts, provided we did not use third-party software or additional automation. We have never done so. We truly played as three human players, with my son and me each controlling two accounts as permitted.

I kindly ask the GM team to review the server log files, which should confirm our account. Playing together as a family is what we enjoy most on this server, and it would be a real loss if we were no longer able to do so.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Best regards

In light of the time that has passed sense your ban, our server migration/logging improvements that we have recently made, and the confirmation that at least 2 of the accounts involved were unique individuals (it still looks like at least 3 of the accounts were being multiboxed), we have decided to lift this ban.

You will have a flag on your account and likely be under more scrutiny so if you were piloting more than one account at a time in order to fill a dungeon group with friends/family, just know that doing that again will result in a permanent ban.

Thank you very much for reviewing our case and for lifting the ban. We really appreciate the second chance and the time you took to look into this.

Just to make sure we interpret the conditions correctly going forward, may I briefly confirm my understanding. As I read your note, "piloting more than one account at a time" refers to one person controlling multiple accounts simultaneously, which we will of course no longer do. Three real people (my two children and I), each playing a single account in the same group or dungeon, would still be regular group play and not fall under this restriction. Is that the correct reading?

The flag and additional scrutiny are entirely fair under the circumstances, and we will stay well clear of the setup that led to the original suspicion.

Thanks again for handling this so clearly and reasonably.

It is not possible to have multiple people signed into one account at the same time, when a second person signs into an account if anyone else is on that account they are logged off automatically (the game has always worked this way).

Every individual person is allowed to control one character in game at a time. There are specific scenarios that more than controlling more than one character at a time is allowed, but you must make yourself familiar with the rules on our main webpage before doing that.
