I'd like to see the OctoTeam have the same stance on this as Turtle already did. And they were adamant about keepin shaman for Horde and Paladin for Alliance. The lore behind the Tauren Priest from Turtle is based on the belief of the celestial siblings, the children of the Earth Mother.
As i wrote over and over on the Turtle Forums again: Priests are **NOT** all connected to the "Light". It's holy magic, but not light magic. Depending on the beliefs of the race/their culture they have different roots. Therefore the Tauren Paladin at this point does make no sense at all.
Could you explain more about the difference between light and holy magic? I do not really care that much for Class/Race Combo. Simply wanted to know, out of curiosity, what the fundamental difference between those two powers is; they do sound kinda the same to me.
Human Paladins and Priests wield the LIGHT.
The term "Holy" in itself isnt directly connected entirely to the light. Elune is a holy entity to Night Elves, but has nothing to do with the light. She's the moon goddess.
Priests in general are a simplified class. If the priest would be well designed, the race choice would matter much much more with that class.
Humans, Dwarves and High Elves wield the Holy Light
Night Elves wield the Powers of Elune
Trolls wield the powers of the Loa
And Undead, who lost their connection to the Light, would wield shadow magic. (Yeah, the Shadow tree actually exists because of the undead. Before WoW the only "Shadowpriests" were troll creeps in WarCraft III.
