If there Orc Mage - there is Gnome Priest! (PLEASE!)

It’s strange—we have Orc Mages, yet the moment you click on a Gnome, the list of available classes is just laughable. Dwarves got everything; they now have both Banish and Dispel, allowing their guild to clear Molten Core without extra consumables. I’m not saying I hate Human, Gnome, or Undead Hunters, but given how things stand, a Gnome Priest really ought to be an option.

Gnome priests wouldn't be the worst thing but it'd be really tricky to characterise them properly within the lore.

If their use of the light is dumbed down to logical and mechanical levels like everything else Gnomes do then it's doing the class a disservice, meanwhile Gnomes are not particularly religious as a race either.

I'd argue if Gnomes do become priests then they should require their own subsect of the Church of the Holy Light which can comport to the way they think about things. The full name of the faith is 'Church of the Holy Light of Creation' so perhaps they are focussed on the 'creation' aspect and see themselves and everything in the world akin to how one would see parts in a machine and the Light is the universal force that puts that machine back into proper working order?

So Gnomes appeal to the light for inspiration in their more abstract and creative pursuits, they see evil forces as faults in reality that need to be corrected, and they probably have decently long-winded discussions amongst themselves about the exact nature of things like law and justice and faith and the light. If anything they would probably be a lot more dogmatic and focussed on a specific vision of what the world ought to look like, or at least what doesn't belong within it.

I could see it working. CERTAINLY better than I can see Tauren priests.

If we gave gnomes the option to be priests then we wouldn't get as many Holy Gnoman Empire riots, which frankly are pretty funny. Consider the consequences

I think gnome priests are as lore accurate as Tauren priests and Tauren rogues.

Introducing Tauren priests without even asking the community was a big mistake by twow, the way I see it. But it can't be undone now, unfortunately. I get the basic reason though, with Tauren only having 4 classes to choose from.

Gnome priests would be as big a mistake.

Magecraft asks nothing more of a person than is asked of a Warlock. Any race which can be a Warlock can be a Mage, though the requirements to be amongst the strongest mages/warlocks are quite rigid. Notably though Orcs have been rubbing shoulders with Ogres for generations now and Ogres are the strongest Mages in the canon. Ogre magi absolutely sweep the competition and their major drawback is they lack the learning structure to reliably get as powerful as Archmages. If they had that then Ogre Magi would be knocking heads like Jaina/Antonidas. It's not unreasonable for Orcs to pick up a thing or two.

Faith is different than just learning and it's something that generally exists at odds with Gnomes as a race because their worldview is far more logical and practical than other races, so it is irresponsible to just assume they're going to be accessing faith the same way everyone else is.

Gnomes should be hunters tho. There's no need for lore on that front and size isn't even a factor because if humans can tame animals many times larger than themselves then Gnomes can too.

Bro. MURLOCS have hunters. You might actually have a harder time finding a race that doesn't have examples of hunters.

Bro, murlocs live in seas and oceans — vast territories where you have to hunt to survive. But what did the gnomes hunt in their burrow? Mice?
