New roadmap ?

I have the feeling that the roadmap slightly changes within the last few days. Not saying it is not good, was just expecting some communication about it !

Extended the roadmap considerably it seems! Mostly i think it looks more orderly now but so long to BWL! Cries a bit.

On the other hand, Bwl winter sounds good to me.
Winter is more of a gaming season anyway, not that i wont be playing during the rest of the summer:P

Its fair enough, can live with this. Time for more alts and stuff.

I'll be honest, I'm a bit disappointed.

My perspective is that most players here are from Turtle, either Nord or Ambershire. We were either on Nord pushing through K40 or we were on Ambershire where they were progressed up to BWL. Having to wait another few months just to catch up to where Ambershire was kind of feels bad I guess. I was just saying to someone earlier how I wished BWL would come out in September instead of October and he was like oh it's actually November. That's when I realized the roadmap had changed.

Anyways it is what it is but there isn't a lot to do right now. The economy feels pretty rough because there's really just not a lot of professions being utilized. I feel like phase 2 coming out sooner than later would really help keep the servers momentum going in general.

Either way I'm happy to be playing here.

We complained when it was too short.
We complaining about it being too long.
And by god we'll complain about it no matter the timeline!

No stress!

- dev team is still on vacation,
- people are still leveling,
- Icantkite is still making level 5 to spew on the community.

I honestly think the roadmap looks pretty good besides, and this is a big sticking point imo, Zul'gurub being where it is. Zul'gurub is a chill side-raid and should have probably been released alongside K10 around right now. ZG early August would help bridge the big gap between launch and BWL, and the gear isn't anything ground breaking. A lot of it is worse than K10 loot. If anything, it just allows people more time to get their reputation grinded before BWL. :)

What were the arguments regarding it being too short? I've never really understood the logic. I could go on at length about the impact of delaying progression, the effects on the economy, the effects of burning people out with boredom-- but what are the negatives of it being too quick?

The only thing I can really see is that some people would maybe have their egos bruised that they ended up being behind the curve a tad? Releasing BWL a month from now wouldn't negatively impact anything in a concrete way. Some people would whine, but what would their actual argument be? Again the only thing I can even guess at is that they would feel left behind-- but hell I joined Turtle after Naxx had been on farm for literal years. I didn't join a farm team. I joined a progression team. There will be teams that start late regardless of when a raid comes out. BWL could come out tomorrow, and three months from now there would be teams just starting BWL progression.

I genuinely want to understand the argument, but I haven't actually ever seen one. It's just people saying it's too fast. But why is it too fast? What benefits does the delay of progression bring? Because I can list off severe negatives that delaying it causes. It severely impacts the economy. There's so little demand for most materials right now that most things are worth very little if anything. So for example like ok I have free time because there's going to be months or waiting now, yet I don't see the point in farming because nothing is worth anything. It makes the server feel kind of broken to be honest, and knowing that I now have to wait months longer than I previously thought for the economy to get fixed is like, damn. I went from being generally stoked to being kind of pessimistic to be honest. I felt that the previous roadmap was already very slow. This new one is like, damn...

And again, if I could actually understand the argument against it I think it would help me be less discouraged. But I'm left with the feeling that this decision was based off of whiny ego filled nerds wanting everyone to be slowed down to their pace so that they don't feel bad about others playing the game more actively than them. So please someone help me understand the argument in support of slowing things down this much. I really need to know it's more than just whiny nerds feeling like they're being left behind in a system where no one actually gets left behind since there are always new progression guilds popping up... Because if this is just being done to appease their ego, that's terrible imo and makes me lose a bit of faith in the server and I hate saying that.

Here's something to consider. Will people quit playing because there is nothing to do and no point in farming because the economy is broken? Yes. Will people quit because raid content comes out sooner? No. To me it's just that simple... Delaying progression in my eyes will harm the server in a big way. Speeding it up would have literally no negative impacts. If someone was willing to quit playing because there's too much shit to do, I'm pretty sure they would have quit playing regardless...

You can see how this plays out with faster phases, especially PvP-wise, it happened before on Tel'Abim (PvP). People were saying things like "give me a fresh server, everyone's so far ahead I don't want to spend months gearing up just to lose to overpowered players." New players end up not wanting to join because the progression gap feels too big.

There are good and bad sides to both approaches, but I think Octo's phase pacing makes sense for where the server is at right now. It gives newer players some breathing room to casually catch up before jumping back in, and it gives the devs a bit of a breather after all the work they've put in. Restoring this much 1.18 content, stuff they didn't even have original access to, is honestly pretty impressive.

Whats the general consensus on making newer content? Is it safe to say we'll wait awhile? How are the servers progressing Is it okay to level at your own pace?
