With MC, Ony, and K40 live, I wanted to raise something that feels a bit inconsistent: Onyxia's Lair, a small "side raid," has a first-kill reward tied to it, but the major 40-man raids like Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, and eventually AQ40, currently don't have any equivalent recognition.
That feels backwards to me. These are the raids that define classic 40-man progression, the ones guilds spend the most time preparing for and wiping on. It seems odd that a two-boss encounter has a first-kill title attached while the "real" raids don't.
To be clear on scope: I'm talking specifically about server first (PvE, cross-faction) and faction first (PvP) kill titles, not a title everyone who clears the raid gets. On PvP realms this distinction matters, since Horde and Alliance approach these raids with completely different strategies, class availability, and consumables, so a single cross-faction "server first" wouldn't really reflect who actually got there first under their own faction's limits. Faction-first keeps it fair on PvP, while server-first (cross-faction) makes sense on PvE where both factions are effectively racing the same conditions.
For reference, other TWoW-style servers have handled this differently. On Nordanaar and Tel'Abim, only Naxx and K40 had titles:
Conqueror of Naxxramas
Conqueror of Desolation
(and every one who cleared K40 would get Bane of the Nathrezim)
On Ambershire (correct me if I'm misremembering some of these), titles were spread across all the major raids:
Molten Core: Guardian of the Flame
Blackwing Lair: Blackwing's Bane
Temple of Ahn'Qiraj: Champion of the Shifting Sands
Naxxramas: Champion of the Frozen Citadel
Tower of Karazhan (40-man): Conqueror of Desolation
I think the Ambershire approach makes more sense for OctoWoW, giving each major raid its own first-kill title (server first on PvE, faction first on PvP) gives guilds something concrete to race for, and it makes the effort behind full clears of MC/BWL/AQ40 feel as rewarded as Ony currently is. Besides that MC and BWL both are custom content to, so not just "regular" vanilla. Which makes it a bit harder to.
Would love to hear what the team thinks, and whether something like this could be considered for MC/BWL (and AQ40 down the line) before too many guilds have already cleared them without a reward in place.
