Ban Appeal

Hi,

I'm dualboxing two Paladins, Dusko and Dawno.
I was mining in The Hinterlands, Dawno fell down a mountain and died.
Was auto-walking back to my corpse while tabbed out and got banned.
Dawno got banned, but Dusko didn't.

What happened? Can I be unbanned?

The accounts were actually banned after a GM saw the character using a hill climb hack that is a part of the old ezturtle fly/movement hack package.

Hi Kestrel, thank you for your reply.

I think I can explain this. When dualboxing, the client that's running in the background gets 600-800 ping. The same happens when I tab out entirely, both clients run at high ping, even higher when I watch a stream. When I tab back into one, the ping goes back to normal over a couple of seconds. When you dualbox you switch between clients non-stop, and it's an every moment occurrence that my characters lag on the other character (or other people's) screen.

What this means is that for example when I'm playing playing Dusko, Alt Tab to Dawno, do a jump and quickly switch back to Dusko, that on Dusko's screen, Dawno will either double jump, disappear and reappear or teleport a short distance. When I use my Hearthstone, Dusko might see Dawno on her horse inside an Inn, or she's in an infinite falling animation, or in a swimming animation. When I'm climbing a mountain and Dawno (who's on /follow) gets stuck, or when I'm auto-walking and tabbed out, eventually walking into a tree or hill - it's common for her to scale up the hill depending on the geometry, but this is only visually I assume, as on Dawno's screen she's just walking into a hill, but not scaling it. This would explain what the GM saw.

I want to ask for the benefit of the doubt here for two reasons:

1. Dawno was dead. There's nothing to gain from hacking when you're dead. There's no reason to "hill climb hack" onto a hill, as my corpse wasn't even on a hill. It only takes 2-3 minutes to walk back to my corpse.

Edit: I Google'd this "ezturtle" hack you mention and it comes with a "no fall damage" hack. Dawno died to falling off a hill. If I was hacking, I would have enabled that to begin with. I also see it has a teleport hack, so why didn't I teleport back to my corpse?

Half the comments say the hack doesn't work and the other half say they got banned. I would have to be genuinely stupid (excuse my language) to download this, risk malware, and to risk my lv. 57 character (or even an IP ban) with half the comments warning about bans, just to avoid walking back to my corpse for 2-3 minutes. It doesn't make sense.

2. If you check my chat logs or how I interact with the community, you'll see that I'm nice and helpful:
  • I made a buff macro to give every class the two best Paladin buffs for their class. I buff everyone I come across, even if it means dismounting and slowing down, like when I'm doing my mining routes.
  • I like to hang out in Goldshire just so I can buff new players, help them a little and make them feel welcome in OctoWoW.
  • I remember Kittylover getting stuck between a chair and closet in Goldshire Inn and them yelling for help. They didn't speak English well enough for me to help them Hearthstone or unstuck, so I opened a ticket and GM Valette unstuck them and I thanked her.
  • When someone is doing a service in Stormwind like free enchanting or lock picking, I tip them without using their service and send them a whisper thanking them for providing a free service.
  • I leveled to lv. 57 AoE farming and instead of competing for mobs with other players, I ask them if they want to split the map or if it's a Mage, if they want to join. If we just split the map, I put a marker on them to track their buffs and make sure to give them new Blessings every 10 minutes.
  • If someone asks for my help with a quest item or Elite, I always say yes and go out of my way to help them.
  • When I see someone pull too many mobs, I hover around them and help if needed.
  • When I see someone run away on low health, I taunt the mobs off and heal them.
  • I met a Mage named Swagina, AoE farmed with her and gifted her around 50g for her mount (riding skill) because she was broke and I'm playing two Paladins so I don't have to pay for mounts.
  • I'm even nice to those pesky guild recruitment spammers.
What I'm trying to say is: I value being nice and helping people. I'm not some dishonest hacker. My chat logs will reflect that. I don't doubt what your GM saw, as I see my characters lagging and de-syncing every day, but I want to ask for the benefit of the doubt here.

Note: if you want to check my chat logs, check Dusko's, Dawno hasn't said much.

Thanks for reading this and for the reply. I know the staff is very busy.

In light of this additional context, I have reverted the ban. I have not yet gotten to do a full debrief with the GM so there is a small chance this could be reverted but if you hear nothing then just assume things are fine and the reversal is sticking.

Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Thank you so much, Kestrel! I hope it doesn't get reverted. Don't worry about the inconvenience. I really appreciate this.
