We are considering players thoughts, but are prioritizing what we think will be best for our servers. The players want more EXP, we disagree. Neither knows which is the best long term answer.
How can you say this and then waffle about ''yeah changing exp is something to discuss/talk about''. You're just lying to placate people by trying to push it down the road.
We are not lying or placating, it is something that the team and players have been discussing for weeks now since before the PvP server even launched. It is something we are still evaluating. You don't have to believe us of course, zero trust and all that. If you don't like the current leveling speed I get that but the solution is not to just say everyone wants more exp.

The PvP server is growing right now and we are happy with that, we also expect much more growth as the PvP realm gets more content. Adding 2x exp rates to a server that is already doing well is not something that we think is a good idea.
How are you going to discuss or even change levelling if your philosophy is ''you want more exp we don't''. Nerf exp needed per level? How is that any different to just more exp? Any type of change you do to levelling would be no different to more exp.

Besides we are not letting players dictate every decision on the server some decisions will be unpopular just like some of turtle wow's decisions were.

The community discord would have executed us a dozen times over by now, they would have done the same to turtle wow, yet here we all are. The argument that "we don't want this" is not holding water I have explained why we made this choice and your response thus far has only been points that I have refuted and "but we don't want that!". If that is all you have then perhaps the conversation has run it's course and we will just have to see how things pan out in the coming weeks.

You haven't refuted anything — none of your arguments carry any other weight other than that of you being a dev team member ; there isn't a single thing you've said that can be considered a decent argument much less irrefutable... in fact quite the opposite.

You're strawmanning again — no one is asking for players to dictate every decision — players are asking for things to be as they were on their respective servers and for the dev team to be respectful of that ; sophistry won't get you anywhere... we've had this chat, a large part of the community is old enough for the rest of the community to be their children and maybe you included. This kind of low brow retort will not work.

Poll for the PvP server... See how it goes.

You'll realize that your lukeworm claim of "singular messages on the discord is not very convincing" doesn't hold water — because all you have to work with for "many were in favor of many in favor or not" are these forum posts ; tell me I'm wrong and you're once again acting in bad faith.

The people here who have posted against x2 or mob tagging etc are all people that clearly recently joined —as many themselves have admitted — and many are from the PvE server.

Please be mindful to not make short-sighted changes, especially "Pandora's Box"-changes where it will be very difficult/very unpopular to undo the changes once they're implemented. Increasing the XP rate a lot is one such example, which seems tempting, but it cheapens the leveling experience, kills lower level content and early game economy, and empties the lower level zones of people. The game should be about the entire world, not just endgame zones or to hide players away in instanced content. I hope this project won't deviate too much from the spirit of the original Vanilla WoW.

Where is Don? Does Don oppose giving the PVP community 2x?

Kestrel is fabricating this idea that there are many pvpers who want slow xp lol

I mean... This server was launched in May, so everyone playing here joined recently, since the server launched recently. This isn't TurtleWoW just because the client was leaked.

Our calculations show the following leveling speeds in terms of levels per hour.

Bracket, levels per hour from AB post nerf(at a 50% win rate, no warmode), levels per hour from questing, the pre nerf levels per hour from AB

30-39, 0.61, 0.46, 0.76
40-49, 0.42, 0.28, 0.78
50-59, 0.32, 0.20, 0.78

So even post nerfs they are the best way to level, not counting the 20% warmode bonus. I hope this clears up some of the ridiculous claims being made. This data was calculated by analyzing the actual exp per hour rates of real players on both servers not simulated data. The only simulated data was the post nerf rates which were a very simple and reliable calculation we were able to do taking the pre nerf rates and applying our new modifiers.

The core of this change is that BG's should not give more than double (I had my numbers mixed up earlier) the EXP per hour that other forms of leveling give. That is a claim that does hold water. That is not a straw man. That is the core of this decision. If you disagree with that then say so.
