Controversial donation change / Ban boosting

Let Donation rewards be BoE, so that players with difficulty or aversion of donating can still access these QoL aspects of the game.

Yes, one could argue that that could be considered RMT, and I guess that's the main argument against.

However, not only might this increase the revenue to the server and maintain it's development and quality. It also opens up indirect donations when only donation option is crypto.

I guess it would also help keep inflation down because of AH cuts.

I can imagine, and I'm trying... Which myriad of problems do you foresee?

Well, the market would regulate prices, and this business idea would server to funnel money into the server and development?

So what if Player A holds extra gold and Player B holds some tangible highly useful donation items (that holds a high value of equivalent in-game time) or vice versa?

Ok, one is able to use they're hard-earned money from their time outside of WoW, and the other has to spend his time in-game to earn gold to buy those same Donation items. Result is both get to enjoy the game and the "RMT" aspect is just fueling the server.

I am against this. Donation items should not be sellable to others. Some of them already go beyond what true QoL is and it would essentially open up RMT schemes.

I gotta admit I appreciate the LotR memes :)

As I stated in the title, I admit the suggestion is controversial. I'm not sure what effects it would have on the server long-term.

But I can see some benefits and I can imagine some challenges. However, to me it's not a clear cut case one way or another.

So what if those items can flow freely in the market? The point of the donation rewards is that they're not game breaking nor immersion breaking. Maybe this will result in more donation items out there, but subsequently also more funding for the server.

The point is the principle, my dude.

You're looking at the matter from an entirely material perspective (and even then you are being very generous given what we know always happens with these systems) and failing to account for the immaterial side. Decisions like that affect the feeling of a game the same way skins going from being unlockable secrets to being sold in a shop changes the feeling of a game, and how a game feels affects not only how much people enjoy it but how people choose to play it and what kind of players it attracts/repels.

Make a game with RMT features and you're repelling the people Turtle WoW (and thus theoretically Octowow) marketed towards, and you're attracting the sort of people T-WoW used to repel, and so serving the playerbase changes because the playerbase changes.

Hence the LotR memes. What you are saying appeals logically like Sauron did to Saruman, but overlooks the principle/philosophy/morality of the thing, and thus the invocation of Grima because his whole job was distracting Theoden from the reality of his situation.

RMTs are and will always be toxic to WoW, a game designed to reward the effort the player puts into the game.

fyi. if you buy points, you can get them transferred to someone else by making a ticket.

This point is moot. It's contradicted by the very fact there are donation rewards.

That's a good point. (if this practice from twow is still in effect on OctoWoW)

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for in-game time should be rewarded, however the two points above, to me, validates reselling of said donor items.
