That gold is already existing and circling the economy though. And the donation items are not pay to win. They give some cosmetics and QoL/convenience.
Yes, there might be some whales that get an easy way to get (already existing) gold to buy some mounts and consumes (gold returns to the economy), but I say it's worth it because it'll increase the server income and upkeep.
You're free to give away your donation points or gold for free, but if it's a transaction it's troublesome?
I don't see a problem people buying WoW subscription time with gold on Blizzard. This would be somewhat similar. The problem is Blizzard selling insta-level boosts.
People are already very passionate and defensive about allowing boosting (a lvl 60 on /follow one-shotting and circumventing the leveling experience and world immersion for everyone else).

RMTs are and will always be toxic to WoW, a game designed to reward the effort the player puts into the game.
Does boosting reward effort in game, or circumvent it?

There are plenty of Pay2Win servers and this isnt one of them.
What exactly can having easy access to gold get you that is Pay2Win? (Except circumventing timespending, similar to Boosting; or pay for convenience, similar to Donation items)
We want to financially support the server.
No new gold is added to the economy.
The negative is someone can get access to somewhat fast gold, but the benefit (which I think outweighs the drawback) is increased revenue to the server.
Don't want this? I hope you're also against allowing boosting...
