Druid Swift Travel Form

For consistency and immersion reasons I thought it a shame that the Druid Swift Travel Form had a cast time (like a mount) unlike the other druid forms. While I don't believe it would break the game or make druid imbalanced (in case they're already the top PvP performer) to just make it instant cast. I have just thought of a genius way to balance and offset the perk of making it instant cast (in case anyone think it's OP).

1) make it a scaling speed increase like Plainsrunning (without the other Plainsrunning mechanics/limitations), and if need be (2) also give it the dazed-side effect of Aspect of the Cheetah.

Bump.

Travel form should be instant cast like all other forms. If it's deemed broken, give same functionality as plainsrunning (scaling speed to accelerate). That eliminates any and all possible arguments for it being broken (unless the entire race of Tauren gets an unfair advantage with Plainsrunning).

Keep as is. And plainsrunning should go for both PVP and PVE balance. Both long and short distance are affected. Unless it is intentional that Tauren and druid should have advantage. Also I thought plainsrunning didn't work in battleground. Same should be applied for PVE and open world PVP.

Balance is a delicate thing.

Valid points. But I disagree.

They found make it instant cast and offset it by nerfing something else. It should, as all other forms, be instant cast.

You could argue the same about (Cheetah) Travel form or Aspect of the Cheetah. The classes are balance around those unique traits.

Movement speed in general should be deeply looked into and thoroughly tested to find optimal values in all settings. Currently It is out of whack. I'm not all against some change to druid swift form as long as it is properly tested and balanced toward where it should be. Given how unbalanced it already is across the table, do you add to it or do you pull in the reigns? Turtle added to it and that is why it is out of whack.

I cannot stress enough how much testing it require to find the balance and the testing need to be completely unbiased. Which clearly Turtle were not. Early reasoning surfacing upon probing revealed that Tauren got plainsrunning and got to keep it because of faction imbalance and underpopulated race.

That seem to have evened out, but certainly not for the severely unbalanced druid. What are we in favor of? Tauren get to keep it unless exploited, which currently seems to be within accepted limits.

Well, whatever effect it would have, they'll have the statistics to show for. And could tweak the class down in another aspect. For instance increase the mana cost of Entangling roots.

Another thing is why does it make sense that Aspect of the Cheetah can be used indoors, while cat form has to adhere to the indoor speed limit.

When it comes to passive speed effects in general, I think it's a shame it isn't just stackable across the board. Sure, let consumable speed boosts like give the flat speed boost. But fleet footed, night elf passive, boots enchant etc. should be stackable.

i too would like to see the cast time removed, the fact it cant be used in combat is already immersion breaking but necessary for balance IMO.

If you remove cast time for swift travel form, that would mean that nobody can run away from druid, and nobody can chase druid. It's a massive advantage in pvp for druids

Basically this, it would be extremely overpowered in PVP, and also in PVE to a lesser degree fwiw.

True (if useable in combat). But since it's kinda extreme compared to just Travel Form. Wouldn't it be kinda fixed if it had for instance a mana cost of 60%? MAYBE it can be cast once, but the Druid will be pretty dried out to continue pressure...
