1. We have not yet as we do not have a contact there and also lack a Chinese translator. We would love to partner with them in some way if they have an interest in it and would be happy to work something out if they have the 1.18.1 source code. That is a very large if that our team is not yet convinced of, if they develop and repair their server from it's current state then we would be much more interested in putting in the effort of getting a line of communication open with them though!

2. Yes

3. Yes

4. As unstable as it will ever be. Every day that passes our team is chopping away at years of technical debt. Not to go into too many details, but one thing much of our team has an absurd amount of experience with is cleaning up tech debt and working with 20+ year old software projects to modernize them. As far as guarantees there isn't much we can offer you beyond our word and the knowledge that if the project goes under for any reason, the Knowledge Keepers will disseminate the code/database snapshots for all to see.
Sincerely,

Ty Kestrel, as my sugerence as a player is to try to contact Capybara WoW devs and negotiate for have a proper server on this side of the world.

Otherwise, I'm going to be observing and informing my friend of the state of the server.

Thank you Kestrel for the clear and extensive answers.

Thank you for caring enough to read that wall of text I posted

Also not ruling that out down the line. Not to fight in front of the kids, but I actually pushed for that before we released but got overridden by the rest of the team and when I saw it was kind of a pain to do I acquiesced, I'll get there one of these days though when nobody else is looking

Thank you, Kestrel. I think your post was very well written and you're doing a very good job as temporary CM.

Not sure if I should start a new thread to ask my question: how careful should Octo players be in concealing our own identities, and do you think drazzilB would go after American players? Obviously I know not to reveal my real ID on the internet, but what about using discord? Just pondering out loud.

Have a great day! :)

First off, we are not lawyers. That being said I would be shocked if blizzard went after individual players.

Back in the olden days when music was starting to be stored on digital devices, a few record companies tried to push that exact legal tactic, going after individuals who pirated music. This ended up being a massive failure a few different reasons, and has been taken as a lesson across the entertainment industry. They had much more success targeting the platforms these music files where shared on.

All that is to say it would be a hilariously, catastrophically bad move if Blizzard went after individuals who played our game or joined fan made discords.
