r8 with less than 100 HK's is a joke

Less than 100 HKs simply isn’t true. We were closer to 300-400 HKs by the time I reached R8, and almost all of that came from open-world PvP.

I played from day one, when there were no BGs and the server often had only around 200-350 players online. Most players you encountered weren’t even PvP flagged, so finding actual targets took a lot of time.

Farming enough honor for the four PvP pieces took us at least four weeks back then. Today, with active BGs and a much larger pool of PvP targets, the same amount of honor can be farmed in roughly a week.

So yes, there was absolutely both time and effort involved. I reached Rank 8 and bought the gear that was available at the time.

400 hk is ~6k of honor. If you're really pvper then this amount is 2-3 hours winning ab with quite some kills.
In may i saw two ppl with less than 100 hk with r7 and r8.
This ranks "farming" was a joke.
Effort? What effort, killng those 5 ppl with warmode on you have met somewhere on Azeroth?

I will write it once again, you should get nothing, and surely you didnt deserve to be able to buy old pvp t1 set.
It was closed beta for finding bugs, helping Octo Team. You have got your Ozzy.

So the real effort in closed beta was doing quests and dungeons reporting bugs, if you were hunting ppls for few hk to bug up your rank then you lost our time, all of us.

You’re comparing two completely different situations. Today there are roughly 2,000-3,000 players online and active BGs, so of course 400 HKs or 6k honor can be done quickly.

Back then the server often had only around 200-350 players online, there were no BGs while I was leveling, and most players you met in the open world weren’t even PvP flagged. On top of that, we were using the old PvP system, not the current one.

In fact, with today’s PvP system, active BGs and the current population, I would have farmed the honor needed for those four pieces in less than a week. Back then it took me at least four weeks. So if anything, getting those pieces is significantly easier and faster now than it was for us.

Saying “400 HKs is only 2-3 hours today” therefore proves absolutely nothing about how long it took back then. You’re applying today’s population, BG availability and PvP system to a completely different situation.

And calling it “bugging up your rank” is nonsense. We were simply using the PvP system exactly as it existed at the time and buying gear that the game itself made available to us.

With 100-200 ppl online old pvp system ranking based on ladder board was simply abused, that's why i'm calling it "bugging up".
For closed beta ranks should be suspended or gaining it heavily nerfed. But it wasnt.
What's more, there was a bug for fast "rank up" with doing dishonorable kills.
We got really bugged beginning.
