Launcher doesn't work on Linux after updating to 1.3.4

I don't know if any of the prior versions is the culprit, as i was on 1.2.0 until now.

Edit: I'm launching the launcher through Lutris, which uses Wine (Proton 9.0).
Edit 2: Updated to 1.3.5, issue still persists.

SOLVED:
Installed GE-Proton to get around the ENOTSUP error.
After that i kept getting an access violation error - Seems like dxvk either got re-enabled, or it's causing issues now. (I don't remember whether it was turned on or off)

If you're having the same issues as me, hopefully, this will help you.

Okay, odd. This is also happening to me, and I've outlined my findings in:
https://octowow.st/forum/viewtopic.php?p=8239#p8239

I'm -already- using GE-Proton (10-29 to be specific) via Lutris. Still getting the ENOTSUP error.

I updated to a later version of GE-Proton (Using 'LATEST' variant, which is 11-5, iirc). ENOTSUP error went away.

You can use the torrent directly, it fixed my launcher issues on Linux

Hi, i got mine working now in linux after redownload the game through torrent replaced with new files to my old path. Also re-downloaded the launcher.

from start when using old launcher I saw an update but the launcher couldn't update with error "ENOTSUP: operation not supported on socket" launcher can't update through its own launcher. I don't know why this happens. It somehow deleted my old launcher .exe so I was stuck.

re-download octowow torrent & replace it to your old octowow.
redownload launcher and install it again and this time it ends up here Program Files/OctoLauncher/OctoLauncher.exe
I had to point to above .exe & use umu-proton-latest otherwise new launcher would not start. Or I got a white window of the launcher.
At this point after doing above I got an error complaining about that I don't have the correct wow version even though I redownloaded. So In the launcher I removed all custom mods start wow > close wow > re-apply mods again . I'm not using custom mod "no1600x1200". After all these steps I can now play again. God what a messed up launcher version. Before it has worked perfect.

Devs let me know if you need any more logs and where can I get them?

I also experienced some problems running Octo and its launcher from Bottles on Soda 9.0.1. This setup worked for me for a long time.Setting GE-proton11.5 as runner from Bottles did NOT work for me to get the launcher to work not even in a fresh Bottle, latest Soda and fresh install files. It did run the game tho, but the launcher still spawns the error message. It works fine from HGL, see below.
I had the error:
[2026-08-15 23:19:13.268] [info] [selfUpdater] up to date (current: 1.3.7)
[2026-08-15 23:19:13.966] [error] Torrent verify failed TypeError: fetch failed

What solved it for me was switching to Heroic game launcher, fresh install of the launcher downloaded from website. Ran the "installer first" in HGL.
Then I changed to shortcut to point to the launcher itself:
/home/myself/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/shared/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Programs/OctoLauncher/octolauncher.exe
I installed GE-proton11.5 to HGL (click "wine manager" select "GEproton" and install GE-proton11.5)
I changed that to be the runner for the Octolauncher (goto library, click settings on Octowow, select wine version: GE-proton11.5)
Now the launcher launched, though i had to adjust DPI because it was all too small (wineconfig -> graphics -> screenresolution set dpi -> from 96 to 192)
Now launcher launched fine and everythings readable.
Close the launcher, I copied the downloaded gamefiles from the website to the C drive of the wine prefix. /home/myself/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/shared/drive_c/client/
Now back to running the launcher and it's all set.

This is in CachyOs
(TLDR: Bottles+GEproton11-5 or soda9.01 or newer runner no work, HGL+GEproton11-5+fresh install did work)
