I have seen a few topics about similar matters, but wanted to ask here since I am just beginning my journey here after Turtle WoW.
It seems names on the Hardcore realm take priority over those on the PvE and PvP realms. I want to confirm that this is correct. I also want to ask about what this leads to in terms of people holding names.
I suspect there are many names which are being sat on. While at the character creation screen, I noticed a few of my obscure names were taken, which leads me to believe people coming from Turtle took them. While I do appreciate a fair opportunity to take names and the fact that I am somewhat late to the party, I wonder if there is a policy yet on name reclamation from those sitting on level 1 alts that they have never played and seemingly have no intention to play. Is this something to ask a GM about if there isn't a solid rule for such yet?
I'm also wondering about the hardcore realm in terms of names. Specifically, I have noticed that a few names I want are already taken on the hardcore realm but are not taken on the PvP realm, which is where I would ultimately plan to migrate. Is there a way to get a *free* name change when migrating from hardcore to another realm? Or is there some slightly wonky workaround like creating two characters with the same name on the hardcore and PvP realms that would force the player to change their name when migrating from the hardcore realm to the PvP realm?
