that said, if you're not directly harassing someone there shouldn't be an issue. but at the same time, as someone who is a free speech absolutist, i come here to enjoy the game. it's only a mute and i've seen worse punishments from other projects in the past.

It's not a weird take, hate speech is derived from a desire to hurt other people. If you can't see that and think that it's "arbitrary" then you're too antisocial for a social video game (and probably society at large tbh).

It is arbitrary, because if you define it by everyones subjective take on someone elses intentions, you'll never have an actual solid rule to point to, just a large amount of different situations that are completely different. Thats the issue with hate speech, it only exists in the heads of everyone else and everyone can have completely different takes.

For example, Ive had a bunch of white british guys who dont even understand american slang get mad at the word "nigga" when used to describe a friend. People offended on behalf of an imaginary person that winds up victimizes an ACTUAL person of color. Yall are nuts.

So on top of interpreting intentions, the "victims" are usually people who have never historically suffered systemic racism at all. Its fucking wierd.

Bro usa aint the world, and its considerd hatespeech if used publicly, whatever u do between freinds isnt same as what u can sya public. Just test it, go around and start calling randoms on the street that word and see howlong it takes before someone assaults you for it.
