This sort of thing used to happen to warmane 7 years ago, and they ended up having to upgrade their network infrastructure for better DDoS protection.
I've spent a few hours looking through posts and it looks like raven are claiming that they were ddos'd within the first few hours of opening. I think the million dollar question is, 'who's doing it.'

Considering that a decent DDoS attack costs at least a few thousand dollars, it's fair to say its not just some trolls who don't like these servers. It's someone who considers this a negligible investment for a worthwhile goal. That btw also is why DDoS always stop at some point - they cost money and the DDoSer wants to stop spending this money as soon as he can. The point of a DDoS being ofc, driving players away from that server.

So the "answer" to your question is: whos benefitting enough from it to make this worthwhile? I'd say either competition in the pserver world, or, Blizzard themselves. But as I said, I don't think Ravencraft is a genuine project. They're fishy. And I consider it absolutely possible that Blizzard could have changed their market strategy around pservers.

I don't see it being Blizzard. Would they commit a crime? No, they would sue you.

I think after Blizz as a company had multiple lawsuits ending up bad for them, including one wrongful death lawsuit, we're past the point of assuming, but thats besides the point.

My answer to your question is: Yes, they will commit a crime if they have reason to believe that theyll get away with it and don't really consider it a crime since they do it to criminals.

Last thing I'm doing because of DDOS attacks is going to another server which could have the same problems. Or bot/trash infested ones that produce a load of other issues.
