Our first round of PvP changes are now in and live. As part of these we have introduced a new "Haunted by the Innocent" Debuff. If you kill a player that registers as a "Grey" level in open world PvP, you will acquire one stack of this debuff. The debuff does not expire until you die. It increases your death timer to 10 minutes on the first stack, increasing to 20 min, 30 min, and then 50% after that per stack up to a 24 hours death timer.
This is of course a work in progress and subject to change so we look forward to hearing feed back over the next several days on how it plays out in game on the Normal and PvP servers.
Thats amazing... but who actually asked for that ? Is that change/mechanic needed ?
Is that really the prio ?
What about the stuff that has been asked for countless of times that players actually want, and what would prevent the flop of a release which we ahve now
1. Buffed exp gained per player kill out in world
2.. Buffed exp gained per bg win and loss
3. FIXED bg exp gain so now enemy death exp is SHARED between all players that been around / contributied to the kill, instead of ONLY by the person who scored the kill. Such a basic and default thing it feels cring to ask for a fix of that in 2026
4. Buffed honor gained per player kill out in world
AND THEN, all the custom/experimental pvp stuff
Fully support this gentleman. Besides, this way of protecting gray levels creates a new method of griefing, especially if the debuff is applied to the whole raid.

All great ideas. Also, if devs really want to punish players for killing grey chars, they can give xp only for green and higher player kills. This doesn't really work at max level, but for leveling it's a good idea

I understand that you want to do something better, but this is a problem which does not require any new solutions.
If you do not want to get killed in PvP - do not play on the PvP realm or with Warmode.
If you decide to play on a PvP realm (or Warmode) and get killed - endure, this is your own choice and part of the experience.
It will never be fair, what else would you do - punish fmages for attacking prot warriors or sanction players for attacking other players when they are fighting mobs and are on low HP?
If you are grey lvl and are getting purposefully camped by a high-lvl for the sake of harassment (ie you get killed 10 times in a row) - just contact a GM.

Bad idea. There was plenty of 1lvl twinks who were impossible to kill for players up to 20 lvl.
If you want to change pvp do not fix anything. Expand.
Try idea of Free for all kills, so one human with warmode can kill another human with warmode.
Add factions, more than just Horde and Alliance, there are plenty of them. Try to make it possible for player to join The Scourge, Syndicate, Pirates.
Add proper bounty hunting, when one player can pay for head of another.
Add players duties, so player can enlist as Stormwind, Darnassus guardian. Make daily quests about that, like one player has guard some npc, another from different faction has asassination objection for that npc or something, raw idea.

You've set up permanent warmode, and that's good.
And now you're taking a step back by limiting tools during WPvP raids, because God forbid we kill some newbie who "accidentally" got into a mass spell.
A PvP server should be a challenge of sorts.

This is a bad change. Please don't implement it.

This is such a bad idea. This will cause an awfull amount of griefing.
Groups of grey rogues ganking 60s who will be locked out of their character for 10 minutes if they kill one. Or should just repeatedly die instead. Grouped world pvp would be limited to whoever is the first one to summon in a lowbie, since the others will be locked out of playing for 10 whole minutes.
I'm not actually sure what problem you're intending to solve here, especially on the PVP server. PVP servers have been like this since forever, why change it?
If someone is actually repeatedly griefing players, just give him a slap on the wrist and otherwise a ban,..

Great to see the team cares about the success and health of PvP. Don't be discouraged by the backlash.
With respect, i am not sure this hits the mark not is the priority of many considering the PvP realm.
Warcraft is faction war; including civilian casualties to some extend. Maybe we can poll this for PvP server, like RuneScape? (I understand excessive griefing can become an issue, but maybe you can iterate a better direct solution and see if the community is aligned?)
Surely, there are other more easy wins to show vision for the PvP server. It was such a good start with the PvP gear addition.
Even a PvP roadmap could do a lot to build on the fresh server. For example The PvP world events that twow never released I believe and teasing some rewards?
