Battleground Level Range

I noticed the heavy impact of Twinks on battlegrounds. But then I wondered, what if we get rid of the default brackets and instead move towards a system that can make BGs with variable level range?

For instance, a lot of people queue ranging from 18 to 22. Then pop a BG that people can join between level 18 - 22. This makes twinks not completely obsolete, but wouldn't allow players to completely min-max.

In addition, smaller brackets might make it more enjoyable for lower level players. As a level 10 fighting a level 19 is absolutely non-enjoyable.

I can imagine you can make the range bigger as soon as less people join the queue to pop BGs more frequently.

Edit: For clarity an example. The variable range can be of any level range. In my example it could be 18 to 22, but it may alwell pop as 16 to 20 or 53 to 58.

I really like this idea!

If the system becomes smart enough, the sides could be of different size and levels to accommodate different queue sizes and wait times on ally/horde.

so lvl 22 is now the new twink level, nice. there's a lot of very powerful items in the 20-22, 30-32 range, you also have a new tier of enhancements available.

i don't twink, but this realm is tempting me with warmode pve, pve BG's and crossfaction nonsense. let not mention the just afk and let them win attitude. it really awakens the ganker in me.

that being said. dont gy farm if you want a healthy BG ecosystem where players who find themselves in such a situation never enter BG again, maybe even quit the game, possibly not even remotely their fault they ended up being gy farmed.

also fix terrain exploits first of all.

you know. actual fixes, not more retail traps.

it is clear many should be playing on epoch or go back to classic.

turtle developed an identity issue and its continuing. it was always vanilla plus, not retail minus, aside from just about every patch that have come since 2023.

suggestions like this topic is a prime example. i get you want to fix something, problem is you want to fundamentally change a game that's become this popular for good reasons. reasons those who don't understand seek to eliminate and unknowingly turn it into retail.

serious problem when both classic and retail are becoming increasingly tempting to play instead. classic more true to vanilla and retail also true to itself.

try to please everyone and you please none.

I placed an edit, hoping to clarify it further. But I think you missed the point entirely.

i see no difference, but i think you actually missed my point, in my rambling sorry about that.

primary point was the people who want to twink will twink for whatever the maximum is for the bracket they want to twink in.

this would have to be addressed with actively fluctuating bracket levels, but it would make little difference. a twink is very powerful vs a non twink across a big level span. say a 18-23 bracket, the lvl 19 twink would still do remarkably well there.

with much higher server pop and much higher BG activity changes could be made, but even on turtle peak hours its not enough to slice and dice the brackets or make impacting changes like gear evaluation based matchmaking.

honor is supposed to be a big part of it also. not much honor in ganking lvl 10-12 with a lvl 19 twink. it has to be done though due to support roles, im sorry lvl 10 healers.

that being said, iv met lvl 10 players in WSG and low end of bracket in AB seriously outperforming players 4-5 levels above. we even have lvl 10 flagrunners in WSG.

it will only get worse over time as more twinks get built and less people are levelling.

and you do come a long way with just a few greens from ah. its the small things that need to change, like high level enchants on low level gear/characters. give everyone a chance to build a 80%~ twink with just a few gold in greens.

meaning, sub 60 brackets ARE a twinks game, you can participate without twinking, but adapt and enjoy the challenge.

its nowhere near the gap in lvl 60 bg's anyway. maybe not yet, but soon enough.

also. iv been called a twink simply because im max level for the bracket multiple times. it doesn't work like that..

10-19 and 20-29 bracket is lol anyway. have fun. dot the twinks and avoid them if that's your thing. mess with them, don't try to kill em. you might be surprised what you can achieve. and it's about teamwork, are you taking the frontline as a lvl 12 against lvl 19 twinks? well, you can twink at lvl 12 to. some lvl 12s are very strong.
