How do i get Octowow to work with Steamdeck?

I see that the is some console experience addon now that ppl say is the best.

But how do i even log in to the game?

Nothing happens when i press steam button + x, so i cant type anything into the password/username window.

Ive tried different controller setting templates but non is allowing me to type in the password/username.
