I run the game through proton, and I get that same error trying to run vanillafixes, but the stock executable works just fine.

If the installer might not work, you can also make a prefix via Lutris yourself. I use GE-Proton (Latest) as a WINE version.

Do the following:
- Make a new prefix with GE-Proton (Latest)
- Set your wine prefix folder (/path/to/where/game/goes)
- Set the executable to the installer and launch it
- Launcher should work, let it install and shut down the launcher after you installed the client
- Replace the executable in your wine prefix with: <prefix_path>drive_c/users/<user>/AppData/Local/Programs/OctoLauncher/OctoLauncher.exe

HAVE FUN.

The only thing that didn't work for me was the fix for widescreens. But it pretty much works even without it on my 32:9 ratio screen.

Works great through Steam as well if you're willing to jump through some installation hoops - basically anything that runs it through proton; Steam/ Lutris/ etc. is gonna work.
