1.18.1 on the new PTR

After a long very interesting week, we are excited to announce the opening of our PTR! To access it you can navigate to forge.OctoWoW.st and download the new PTR launcher there. Be aware, it is a slightly different launcher from the open source version, this is so that we will can mine shellcoin on your machine once you install it.

The PTR is currently on a 1.18.1 client so you will need to download the new client through the PTR launcher. The new launcher should point at your existing OctoWoW directory and it will share the files between the Prod and PTR servers only updating files when you swap between them. The PTR will be semi frequently restarted and will be less performant than our prod servers. It will be less stable and will take longer to fix due to it being less urgent.

If you find any bugs in the PTR please use the in game /bug report. Tickets will only be answered on the PTR if the filer of the ticket is online and the ticket is a levelup, money, or item (no legendries, that would be too much fun) request. We turned the EXP gain up to 10x on the PTR.

There are is an exciting change or two we have made in addition to the 1.18.1 client/class content and we look forward to hearing your thoughts in the forums about them before they go to the production environment. Thank you all for your continue patience and support!

Change log for the PTR: whole new client, so everything (even a lot of the server code/tables) is different and has changed. Classes should be on their 1.18.1 versions of talents and abilities. We expect some talents/abilities to still have some issues but plan to fix them all so if you see any please report them with /bug.
Sincerely,

You may sign in with your production account/password. You will have copies of your prod characters. If anything is wrong with the copy please make a /bug report so we can ensure the cutover to production does not replicate any character migration bugs there.

I think he might have a bad translation there. I'm pretty sure he meant "Are we keeping our progress from PTR to Prod", but I think it's better off not merging any test characters to the production database. Would ruin the game in some ways.

Will there be any reward program for finding bugs?

For example, octo tokens for reporting a novel bug that resulted in something being fixed.

Oh the PTR will not have progress carry over to the production realms ever.

We love the idea and perhaps will implement something like that down the line for more serious bugs.
