Native Quest Tracking is lost after /reload or logout/login

Post#1 » Thu Sep 17, 2026 10:00 pm

Hi,

I’ve encountered an issue with the native quest tracking system and managed to reproduce it consistently.

Issue

When I Shift-click a quest in the Quest Log, the quest is correctly added to the watch list and displayed on screen. However, the watched state is lost after either a /reload or a logout/login.

Tests performed

With pfQuest enabled:
Shift-click a quest → the quest is correctly tracked.
IsQuestWatched(GetQuestLogSelection()) returns 1.
/reload → the tracked state is lost.
After reload, IsQuestWatched(GetQuestLogSelection()) returns nil.
To rule out pfQuest, I completely disabled both:
pfQuest
pfQuest [TurtleWoW DB]
With both addons disabled:
Shift-click a quest → native WoW quest tracking works and the quest appears on screen.
/reload → the quest disappears from the watch list.
I also tested a full session change:
Shift-click a quest → quest is tracked.
Logout to character selection.
Login again on the same character.
The quest is no longer tracked.

Conclusion

The issue is reproducible with pfQuest completely disabled, so it does not appear to originate from pfQuest or its TurtleWoW database module.

The native quest watch state works correctly during the active session, but does not appear to persist or be restored after UI reload or logout/login.

This also affects pfQuest's “Tracked Quests” mode indirectly, because after reconnecting/reloading, IsQuestWatched() no longer reports the previously tracked quests.

Could you please check whether quest watch persistence/restoration is working as intended on the OctoWoW client?

If useful, I can provide additional tests or client information.

Thanks!
