Whitelist Updates

The manual IP whitelist feature that we implemented as a stopgap for those being blocked from one of our protection providers has hit its limit of 500 whitelisted IP's (this limit was not documented anywhere, but is now apparent now that we have hit it and tested it). We will be moving away from using this protection once our more permanent filters are tuned more, but for now it is still necessary.

Because this list if now full, mostly from players who were not ever affected by the specific IP blocking that the list was meant to work around, we have removed the manual white list option.

Going forward we will be maintaining this white list automatically ourselves. If you find yourself stuck in the "Connected" message box after signing in, or unable to connect to certain realms, and you are not using a VPN, you may be automatically white listed by our system. This white listing does take time.

Requests for "please whitelist me" will be ignored/denied. We will update the account whitelist page to display if you're current IP is actively white listed. If you find your IP not white listed, and you believe that it should be, please do let us know and we can look into if the list is full, or if you are ineligible for the whitelist for another reason (most likely that it will not help the specific issue you are having).
Sincerely,

Have you changed the normal.octowow.st IP address that should be listed in hosts file?

500 with 2k daily player is kind of laughable, but aye i understand this was specified nowhere which is kind of scummy by the way. Could play perfectly fine the last week, today can't log in altogether, did add IP's in the host file on appdata and it did fix it but today ijust can't log in and can't add my account to the whitelist

I just removed all the hosts file entries and now I can log in again, recommend that you try it.
(also got myself whitelisted on the website beforehand, but it wasnt working until I edit the hosts file)

I got removed from the whitelist like five times and now the option is gone and I can't login. How much time is the automatic whitelisting supposed to take? How are we supposed to let you know exactly that we need to be on the whitelist?

i mean this is rly unaccaptable-- i cant logg in since yesterday evening--- i can only logg in to the HC server-- the rest is not letting me into the realms-- cant raid again.. how do you expect not losing all the players? im fighting rly hard to not just throw all that away.....

now im even whitelisted: This connection is on the whitelist: my ip adress...

still i can only logg in into the HC realm.

PVE and PVP wont let me in ist just saying "logging in to the game server" and nothing happens

Yes the IP changed. Open a terminal and enter "ping normal.octowow.st" to get the new IP.

Yesterday after the move i saw a massive drop in latency which was great to see, but today its gone back up and its actually worse than before the migration.

Is this temporary and can we expect to see it back down at that really nice low ms? I know FW's and security do add an overhead ofc but latency is worse today than it was before the move...
