Mathystrean Catacombs

A rather large coalition of Dwarves, ordered by King Magni who has pivoted the main Dwarven industry from Mining to Archaeology, have gone relic hunting in what was once a frontier of civilization in hopes of finding an ancient city. What they found was a terrifying subterranean ecosystem, filled with ancient, nameless creatures... they were chased off and hunted, and the new threat has forced them into calling adventurers for aid out of primal fear and revenge for their fallen brothers and sisters, believing that clearing the place out will bring an end to the horrors that lurk.

News of this event and finding has also attracted the attention of many treasure-hunters of Ironforge, Alchemists of Undercity in search of unique and previously uncharted ingredients, and has stirred up concern from the biologists of Auberdine/Darnassus and the nearby Moonglade. Even places as far and as politically lobotomized as Stormwind feel threatened from the highly distressed tales of the few moderately connected/prestigious survivors. There are several death-pits and pools that immediately cause swimming fatigue where these creatues (and rare elite bosses) find their way out of in search of food.

An alternate entrance has been formed as the result of an undersea cave-in due to these ancient creatures stirring, as if awoken from an endless sleep. Rumors have spread about the particularly hard rock of the cave face and have intrigued miners and smiths from across Azeroth.. Many exploration parties and hobbyists have already set up camp.

Yes it's somewhat similar in essence to BFD which is just nagas and twilight's hammer, and is within a nearby zone, but much more perilous and filled with tolkien-esque nameless ancient horrors. Potential raid or tough level 60 dungeon (lv 61-63 elites) to attract horde (too far for low level horde) Due to the cramped spaces, perhaps only a small raid party of the most battle-hardened adventurers can even hope to survive these depths..

"Turn back NOW" or "danger" skull 'n crossbones signs. The nearest graveyard is a pretty short walk which helps it fit for wipes.

Near the newly dug-up entrance, the caverns fork off into the lair of an apex predator..a descendant of the cat upon which the figurines found in the ruins above was modeled after, who preys on these nameless horrors.

You now have no idea of the depths that the Azerothian landscape can go to - but you are clued in on why the atmosphere and ecosystem of the place is so oppressive, with many shipwrecks and massive, boss-level semiaquatic creatures who washed up dead rather than sinking to the bottom..
