Warlock Specialization IDea: High-Skill Utility & Raid Roles

thinking up some ideas and thanks for the recent Warlock QoL updates!

I’ve been thinking about how we can make the three Warlock specs feel more distinct in raids without needing to boost raw damage numbers.

1. Destruction:
Instead of a stationary turret, let's reward tactical positioning. Add an aura that strips fire immunities, but only while the Warlock is within 15 yards of the target. This turns Fire Locks into high-risk/high-reward casters who have to use *Hellfire* and *Sear* to be effective. It gives guilds a strategic reason to bring a Fire Lock to immunity-heavy fights.

2. Demonology: The "Emergency Anchor"**
Let’s make Demonology the ultimate "Save the Raid" spec. Add a 31-point talent that lets us "Merge" with the Voidwalker. This shouldn't be a Main Tank role, but an emergency cooldown—if the MT dies during a boss execute, the Demonologist can "Merge" to hold the boss for 20-30 seconds. It would provide those epic "save the raid" moments that classic WoW is known for.

Affliction Keep it as the reliable, low-threat DPS anchor it is today.

These ideas don't require engine work or massive stat tuning, just some talent and aura adjustments. It would make Warlocks much more interesting to bring to raids, giving us specific utility jobs to handle rather than just spamming Shadow Bolt. Thanks

I really love the current Demo Warlocks that use Greater Demons, so I don't agree with your opinion. As for 'fusion' with Voidwalkers, it seems you aren't aware that Demo Warlocks use Greater Demons, and regarding tanking, since the Metamorphosis talent already exists, I don't think an idea like fusion is necessary.

My suggestion is to add a talent tentatively named "Imp mother(tentative name)" to the Demo 21 talent slot. This would allow you to use Imps as permanent summons even while other demons—such as VWs, Succubuses, Felhunters, or Greater Demons—are summoned. This would allow Demo Warlocks to exclusively command two summons while ensuring they always receive the Blood Pact effect from the Imps.

I appreciate the feedback! The 'Imp Mother' idea definitely has potential, but I’m worried about the backend—doesn't requiring two pets active simultaneously demand a lot more from the code than a single-model merge mechanic?

That's why I landed on the 'Merge/Anchor' concept—I’m looking for a purely situational, long-cooldown 'emergency button' (like a 30-60 min CD) rather than a constant pet-management change. The idea isn't to be an invincible DPS machine, but purely a stabilization utility. Think of it like a mini-cooldown: when the MT drops, you merge, your armor/threat skyrockets, and you hold the boss for 20-30 seconds while the raid scrambles for a battle-rez.

It prevents the wipe, gives Warlocks a heroic moment, and doesn't force the devs to rework the pet-AI system to handle multiple summons at once.

Also, to keep it balanced, I think this shouldn't be a baseline skill for every Warlock. Maybe it’s a rare raid drop that starts a tough solo-challenge questline? That way, it’s a cool reward to search for and it doesn't become a standard meta shift for everyone. It keeps it feeling like a truly earned 'clutch' tool rather than just another level-up skill.
