Stock character select roster; the screen asks for the list (#1014)
Part 4a of the stock GlueXML (`WOW_GLUE_STOCK=1`): character select's roster. - The select verbs run on the reference's roster (`0x4736c0`): `GetCharacterInfo` (race and class from `Name_Lang`), `SelectCharacter` with its clamp and event, the facing gate, and `GetCharacterListUpdate`. They are backed by the roster load and teardown (`0x4724d0`, `0x472580`) and screen state 3. - Under the stock screens the character list is fetched only when the screen asks, as `0x46b880` does. The world connect completes on the auth response (`0x5aab80`), not on a roster. - Every character-park request goes through one ordered channel. A roster reply completes only the current link's query. A late auth after a cancel is dropped, Warden stays terminal, and a failed list shows `CHAR_LIST_FAILED`. The native screens are unchanged. Fake-server tests cover the ordering, the cancel, the realm change and the native policy. WOW_GLUE_STOCK=1 loads and draws the stock GlueXML (#969)
With `WOW_GLUE_STOCK=1` (dev builds), benilla now loads the stock GlueXML off the player's own patch chain into the glue state and draws it; with the switch off nothing changes. In 1.12.1 the glue builder (`0x46a7b0`) opens `Logs\GlueXML.log` (`0x46a8ce`), runs `GlueXML.toc` through the shared toc runner (`0x6edb90` at `0x46a9b3`), fires `FRAMES_LOADED` (`0x46aa34`) and opens on "login" or "movie" (`0x402b3b`), or "charselect" back from the world (`0x402084`). Glue `GetScreenWidth`/`GetScreenHeight` answer the root unscaled (`0x46dd30`, `0x46dd80`). Under the switch the glue state replaces the boot state, takes input, and fires `SET_GLUE_SCREEN` on those edges; the native screens are hidden but still drive the network. A data-gated test loads the stock files with only seven unbuilt verbs raising, a list that may only shrink. The UI scale is UIParent's own scale over a 768-unit root (#841)
The UI scale was folded into the pixel seam, with the root and `UIParent` at scale 1. Frames outside `UIParent` (dropdown menus, need/greed rolls, the world map) shrank with it, `UIParent:GetScale()` answered 1, and `GetCursorPosition()` was off by the scale. In 1.12.1 the scale is `UIParent`'s own frame scale (`0x494550` → `0x76ac10`, floored at 0.64) over a 768-unit root. `GetScreenWidth`/`GetScreenHeight` divide by it (`0x494590`), and `GetCursorPosition` (`0x48b820`) does not. Now the seam is `height/768`, and the scale is applied to `UIParent` at the load's end and on a resize. The nameplates' compensation is gone. Backdrops, hit insets and minimap pings now follow a frame's own scale (`0x76b580`, `0x77e8d0`); tooltips at the cursor and `OnCursorChanged` divide by it (`0x530b20`, `0x77db23`). Tests cover each, and a stock-UI comparison shows nothing inside `UIParent` moves. PLAYER_LOGIN fires at world entry, once the player exists (#840)
`PLAYER_LOGIN` fired at the end of the UI load, before the player existed: its handlers saw `UnitExists("player")` nil and level, health and XP 0, at every login and `/reload`. Ace2's `OnEnable` runs there.
In 1.12.1 the load only arms a one-shot (`0x49011d`). The world-enter cascade fires `PLAYER_LOGIN` if armed (`0x49094b`), then `PLAYER_ENTERING_WORLD` (`0x49096a`), inside a sound-suppression bracket (`0x4908d5`–`0x490a56`). It runs from the player's own create (`0x5deb60`), or on `/reload` from the load (`0x490168`) with the player still in the world. A worldport re-arms nothing.
Now the load arms it, and the unit feed fires both, silenced, once the player is seated. A `/reload` loads under the live player and no longer plays the target-select sound. Tests cover login, worldport and reload; they fail without the fix.

The meeting-stone query runs at every world entry, as 1.12.1 sends it (#810)
The meeting-stone status query (`CMSG 0x296`) and its text reset ran once per UI VM, and the text drop only on leaving the world. So after a cross-map worldport benilla kept the old text and never asked again. In 1.12.1 the world-enter cascade's meeting-stone init (`0x490a14` → `0x4c9f40`) resets the text to `UNKNOWN` and sends `0x296`, right after the battlefield init, on every pass: login, every cross-map worldport and every `/reload`. The leave-world sweep `0x490a80` drops the text (`0x490b2f` → `0x4c9f80`) on a worldport, a `/reload` and leaving the world. The enter leg now runs on the world-enter cascade after the battlefield status. The sweep is one edge, written whenever its latch is spent, and the drop reads it. Tests cover the cascade, a worldport, a reload and the schedule order; a live trace shows `0x296` after `0x2D3` and its reply at login, on `ReloadUI()` and after `.tele`. World-enter queries wait for the player's create, as 1.12.1 sends them (#801)
At login benilla sent `CMSG_SET_ACTIVE_MOVER`, `CMSG_QUERY_TIME`, `MSG_QUERY_NEXT_MAIL_TIME` and `CMSG_BATTLEFIELD_STATUS` right after `CMSG_PLAYER_LOGIN`, before the server had seated the player. cmangos drops them; after a worldport or `/reload` the time and mail queries never went again. In 1.12.1 all four follow the local player's own create (`0x5dea50`): `SetActiveMover` (`0x6006e0`), then the world-enter cascade (`0x5deb60 call 0x4908c0`), whose inits send `0x1CE`, `0x284` and `0x2D3` in that order. A cross-map worldport re-creates the player and takes the same route; `/reload` re-enters the cascade alone (`0x490168`). The four now ride the self create, in that order, and `/reload` re-sends the three. Tests cover login, the create, a worldport, the schedule order and the reload; a live trace shows the order at login, after `.tele` and on `ReloadUI()`. The stock video window's boxes are registered and ffx, ffxGlow, ffxDeath and gxMaximize work; benilla's options gain Spell Detail; load failures go to FrameXML.log (#585)
**#549: the stock video window's CVars.** Its check boxes, `ffx` and `gxRefresh` are registered at the reference's defaults. `pixelShaders` and `specular` ship as `overridden` "1" (`hwDetect`, `0x639a60`), and `gxFixLag` ships "1".
- `ffx`, `ffxGlow` and `ffxDeath` gate the full-screen effect passes every frame, as the reference's gate does (`0x6cd890`; `CFFXGlow` reads `ffxGlow` at `0x6cc5a8`, `CFFXDeath` reads `ffxDeath` at `0x6cdf10`).
- `gxMaximize` is latched. At the `RestartGx` commit it makes a windowed client borderless over the monitor, as the reference's window rebuild does (`0x58cf10`).
- The rest are registered with no effect, and each row says why: `useWeatherShaders` (snow's fallback leg is a separate CPU draw), `lod`, `M2UseShaders`, `M2UsePixelShaders`, `movieSubtitle`, `gxTripleBuffer`, `gxCursor`, `gxRefresh`, `DesktopGamma`.
- `cvars.rs` is split into the runtime and the table.
**#329: Spell Detail.** benilla's options window gains 1.12's Spell Detail Level slider on the Graphics page, over `spellEffectLevel` on the stock 0-2 grid.
**#583: `FrameXML.log`.** Load failures now go to `benilla-config/Logs/FrameXML.log`, as the reference's go to `Logs\FrameXML.log`, and no longer to chat.
- The log uses the reference's lines ("Couldn't open", "Error loading", "Couldn't parse XML in") and its banners.
- A UI load that reports something rewrites the file, and a runtime `LoadAddOn` appends to it (`0x490187`, `0x46aac0`).
Verified:
- New tests for each switch, the maximize latch, every box's stored value with no unknown-CVar warning, the Spell Detail row and the log file's rewrite and append, each failing on main.
- A region dump of the options window shows the new row, and the rows below it moved 35 px, and nothing else.
- `scripts/gates.sh` and `scripts/smoke.sh` are green.
- A live run unticked Full Screen Glow in the stock window, which turned the glow pass off and saved `ffxGlow = "0"`, and a missing addon file produced its four log lines.
Built on macOS; no platform seam touched.

The nameplate verbs write two runtime bits, cleared at world entry, and the setting lives in FrameXML's saved variables, not two CVars (#571)
The nameplate verbs now answer as the reference's (`0x489450`-`0x489480`): they flip bits `0x1` (enemy) and `0x8` (friend) of runtime state, write no CVar, and world entry clears both (`0x401639` → `0x6033c0`, after `VARIABLES_LOADED`). The setting persists only through FrameXML's `NAMEPLATES_ON`/`FRIENDNAMEPLATES_ON`, as on 1.12.1. - The `nameplateShowEnemies`/`nameplateShowFriends` CVar rows and the host's plate push are gone. A player's saved plate setting in `config.toml` moves once into the saved variables at the first world entry. - benilla's layer keeps what players see today. Its `UpdateNameplates` fix drops the stock show-then-hide (`UIOptionsFrame.lua:775-776`), and it registers `FRIENDNAMEPLATES_ON` for saving, which the stock file never does (`:180-183`). So plates turned on come back after login. - With the layer off, benilla behaves as 1.12.1: friendly plates are off after entry. - The V keys flip the verb and the saved global together. V and Shift-V keep their recorded deviation; #570 tracks moving the binding table onto the stock `Bindings.xml`. Verified: - New tests for the verbs, the entry clear, the stock-only and layered persistence across entry and reload, the V keys and the one-time migration, each failing with its change undone. - `scripts/gates.sh` and `scripts/smoke.sh` are green. - A live run with `WOW_GM=off` turned both kinds on, relogged and read both back, from the file too. benilla's layer speaks the 1.12 API alone: handlers take this and no arguments, GetBinding answers the 1.12 list, the Key Bindings page captures through its window, /errors chains the error handler, and the host hooks leave the VM (#569)
benilla's layer now uses only the 1.12 API and the 1.12 Lua forms, and the host hooks it used are gone from the VM. - **The VM calls handlers as 1.12.1 does.** A handler body is compiled as the chunk itself, so `self` in it is an ordinary global (`0x704c70`). A handler is called with no arguments (`0x705199`). The loader reads no `function=` attribute. - **`GetBinding`/`GetNumBindings` answer the 1.12 list** (`0x4b7f60`): `HEADER_*` section rows, plus every key bound to a command, with no category column. The stock `KeyBindingFrame` now shows its section headers and both key columns. - **The Key Bindings page captures keys through its own window**, as `Blizzard_BindingUI` does: the frame's `OnKeyDown` for keys, clicks for mouse buttons, and the wheel. It takes the `Benilla` prefix, so loading the stock binding addon no longer breaks it. The UI pointer feed now hands frames mouse buttons 4 and 5. - **`/errors` keeps its log by chaining the Lua error handler**, and the stock ScriptErrors dialog is unchanged. Load failures that never raise now print one chat line each at world entry. - **Slash commands:** `/reload` and `/errors` are `SlashCmdList` rows in the layer. `/convertraid` is gone; 1.12.1 has no such command. The dev commands are host rows in dev builds only, so a player build answers them with the unknown-command line once. - **Naming:** every global the layer defines is `Benilla`-prefixed. `BenillaBindCapture`, `KeyBindings_OnHostKey`, the three script-error globals and `SubmitChatInput` are removed. Verified: - New tests for each rule and each removed surface; 16 mutations each fail a test. - Region dumps of the Options window (general page, Key Bindings, armed) are identical before and after. - `scripts/gates.sh` and `scripts/smoke.sh` are green. - A live run bound a key, a Shift chord and the middle button through the page, and opened `/errors`. The core loads the player's own FrameXML.toc in its order, and the boot VM loads no Fonts.xml (#568)
The core now loads the player's own `Interface\FrameXML\FrameXML.toc` off their chain, row by row in its order (`0x6edb90`, from `UI_Init` at `0x48ffed`), instead of benilla's copy of the list, and `benilla.toc` is gone. Order is observable in 1.12.1: event listeners run in registration order, children are kept in creation order, and hit-test ties go to the earlier frame. - The world VM starts bare: `GlobalStrings.lua` and `Fonts.xml` load as the toc's first rows. The boot VM keeps `GlobalStrings.lua` and the emote tokens, and no longer loads `Fonts.xml`, which nothing reads there (#307). - A chain without `FrameXML.toc` builds no stock UI and still loads the layer and addons, as the reference does (`"Couldn't open %s"`, severity 2, return unread); benilla reports it as an error. - Every test kit now loads in the production order, `FrameXML.toc`'s rows then `layer.toc`'s, and a guard fails any kit that loads out of it. Two tests whose premises the stock order disproves are gone. - `scripts/smoke.sh` counts VMs by the VM marker, since `Fonts.xml` now loads once per world VM. Verified: new tests for the load list against the chain toc and a reordered fixture toc, the missing-toc case, and two stock frames on one event running in the toc's order (ExhaustionTick before PlayerFrame on `PLAYER_UPDATE_RESTING`), each failing on main's order. A before/after dump of globals, frames, draw order, event listeners and saved variables differs only in stock-order effects: the reordered listeners and children, draw-order ties between non-overlapping frames, and `UnitPopup`'s quality colours now sharing the live tables. `scripts/gates.sh` and `scripts/smoke.sh` are green, and live before/after runs show 0 errors and identical warnings. SetCVar and RegisterCVar read their arguments as 1.12.1 does: a number as %.14g text, "0" for a value with no string form, the reference usage text, realmList/realmName/scriptMemory read-only in the world, and CVAR_UPDATE fired inside the call for every token (#557)
`SetCVar` and `RegisterCVar` now read their arguments as the reference's bindings do (`0x488c10`, `0x488b00`): - a number is stored as Lua's `%.14g` text (`luaV_tostring` `0x6f7c80`), so the stock Sound slider's 0.4 stores `"0.40000000596046"`; - a value with no string form (nil, absent, boolean, table) stores `"0"` (`0x488c98`, `0x488b6f`), so unticking a stock Sound options box no longer raises and music can be switched off there; - the reference's usage texts (`0x84235c`, `0x8422e8`); - `realmList`, `realmName` and `scriptMemory` are read-only to Lua `SetCVar` in the world (`0x48f566`-`0x48f584`), and host writes still land; - `CVAR_UPDATE` fires inside the call for every string token, changed or not (`0x488cad`-`0x488cd5`, `SignalEvent2` `0x703f50`). Verified: 7 new VM tests, a stock Sound window test off the chain and a world-entry read-only test, each failing with the change undone; `scripts/gates.sh` green. SendChatMessage resolves its language name against Languages.dbc, raising "Unknown language" on a miss, and the chat send carries that id, so a racial language picked in the chat menu is spoken (#164) (#498)
`SendChatMessage`'s language argument is spoken, as in 1.12.1: a racial language picked from the chat menu (`ChatFrame.lua:2404`, passed on by `ChatEdit_SendText` at `:1950-1954`) or named by an addon goes out in `CMSG_MESSAGECHAT`, where before every line went in the faction tongue. - `0x49f1e0` starts from the speaker's default language (`0x5ec890`); when argument 3 passes `lua_isstring` (a string or a number) it is matched by name against every `Languages.dbc` row, case-insensitively (`0x49f8a0`, `SStrCmpI`), and a miss raises "Unknown language" (`0x49f2e1`). nil, an absent argument, a table or a boolean keep the default. A language the character has not learned is sent and left to the server, which drops it (vmangos `ChatHandler.cpp:175`). - The packet builder writes the type, the language and a target for a whisper or a channel only, then the text (`0x49f6c3`-`0x49f72a`); fourteen per-type writers become one, with byte-exact goldens. - Each new UI state is seeded with the language table. Checked live against the local vmangos: a say, a yell, a whisper to self and a GM command round-trip through the new builder; a channel line reaches the server's channel lookup; an unknown language raises in Lua. Comments in benilla-app, the UI script layer: one line of fact each, no history, no record numbers (#184)
Part of #41: the first of five `benilla-app` pieces. This one is the UI script layer: `ui_script` with its test harnesses, the text engine and layout (`ui_text`), the UI pass and the UI model panes. Its comments are rewritten to the rule in `docs/METHOD.md`, which is what the code does and the reference fact behind it, in a line. 22,041 comment lines become 7,133. - **The mechanical strip.** The citations that were only a private record number go first, and each edit is shown to be a pure removal. - **Wrong facts corrected.** The rewrite corrects the comments that stated wrong facts. Among them: - On a fresh login the reference fires `PLAYER_LOGIN` and `PLAYER_ENTERING_WORLD` from the player's create (`0x5deb60` → `0x4908c0`); only a `/reload` goes through `0x490168`. The comments now state both paths. - `ComputeStep` (`0x5ca2d0`) applies negative pair kerns and rounds up. It does have a kerning term. - A fallback icon global and the retired `UiPanels.xml` panels no longer exist. The comments that named them now describe the stock FrameXML mechanism that replaced them. - Stock FrameXML line citations are checked against the stock 1.12 files and corrected, and several misattributed files are fixed (`MainMenuBarArtFrame` lives in `MainMenuBar.xml`). - Dozens more turned up on the way: docs sitting on the wrong item, removed functions, stale counts and links. - **Deviation labels.** "Deviation:" now marks only a choice with a reason. An unbuilt behaviour says so plainly. - **Verification.** Every file strips to identical code, and `cargo fmt --check` is clean. Five second readers compared every file old against new, restored the facts the rewrite had dropped, and checked each new citation against the code, the stock files, vmangos and the reference. Behaviour differences the rewrite surfaced are filed as their own issues (#183 among them). The comments here state what the code does. String literals are untouched; they are #92. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> |

comments cite the reference by address, not by private note (#30)
Comments that pointed into the maintainer's private reverse-engineering notes (a note by name, a path, a section or finding id, the analysis's own name for a client function, a process word) now carry the fact itself, cited by the reference client's address, by vmangos file and line, or as "the reference". Nobody outside could follow those pointers. Comment text only, plus the test-assert and log strings that carried the same pointers. No claim changes: a comment the notes have since corrected keeps its wording here, and correcting it is separate work. The two reference generators, `scripts/gen-reference-globals.py` and `scripts/gen-reference-verb-events.py`, named the private notes' layout to find their inputs. They now take the input files as arguments (`--capture`, `--framexml`, `--names`, `--extents`, `--disasm`). Run on the same inputs, both write the committed tables row for row; only the two header lines that named the old environment variable change. Checked per file: - the code is identical: each file with its comments stripped compares equal before and after; a changed string literal is compared under a mask that proves only literal text moved and every literal kept its line count; - no client address the old text cited was dropped; - a second reviewer checked every added address against its derivation; - a detector for the notes' names, paths, ids, function names and process words finds none left; - `scripts/gates.sh` is green. - a panic writes benilla-config/Diagnostics/crash-<time>.txt with the build id, the location, a backtrace and the last 200 log lines, and names the file as its last line, so a bug report can attach it (2266) - every wire-count allocation hint is capped and the compressed update object reads through the cursor, so a malformed packet can no longer ask for gigabytes (2266) - the 23 in-world run conditions are one set, the 45 probe variables one registry, the install-gated tests say when they skip, and every gate is timed (2266) - one workspace-level lint allowance replaces 413 per-site attributes, and the decision corpus gets a lint in the gate (2266) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

your own name survives the first login, and four cold pipelines warm
- your character's own name no longer goes missing on the first login of a fresh start, so KLHThreatMeter stops erroring: the four "player" verbs read the login record, as the reference does (2260, 2261, 2263) - four pipelines that compiled live mid-play now warm under the loading screen: the model tile atlas's orthographic view, the minimap composite's quad, the glow combine pair and the indoor pool's liquid layout (2262, 2264) - a hoverable sign seats its tooltip where its template says, at the cursor or in the corner, not by its object type: Brill's signpost still follows the cursor (2259) - three warnings that fired when nothing was wrong are quiet, and the lane-coverage gates walk every crate instead of one (2264) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

learning a spell says so in chat, and the map's backdrop is back
- learning a spell prints "You have learned a new spell/ability/recipe" in chat, and unlearning one prints its line, on the reference's own gates (2243, 2246) - the world map's dark backdrop is back: the screen size is seeded before the interface loads, so BlackoutWorld is sized from the real window, not 1024x768 (2242) - the trainer filter repaints again: the engine fires TRAINER_UPDATE from inside the filter verbs, as the reference does (2244) - the zone channels, the keybinding table and the default language seed at the entry edge, before any addon asks (2241) - WOW_UI_COST=1 counts the frame's UI material asset events and names the first hundred modified (2236) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

the world draws inside the UI pass, and Questie's zone table fills
- the world is the first draw of the UI camera's main pass, not a pass before it: one render-pass boundary fewer, −0.9 ms of GPU on the Air at full render scale (2234) - the world-map catalog seeds at the VM's birth, before any addon file runs, so Questie's Astrolabe builds its zone table instead of raising on every path (2240) - the login's own tutorials wait for the interface, and a cross-map worldport fires PLAYER_LEAVING_WORLD, guarded by the reference's once-per-world latch (2232, 2235, 2239) - WOW_PROBE_BGQUEUE makes "log in while queued for a battleground" reproducible (2237) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

the world gets its own Lua state, and the trainer follows the spell
- entering the world builds its own Lua state instead of adopting the character screen's, so a login one-shot fired into the frameless glue VM is spent again against the interface (2226) - after training, the trainer's detail pane moves on: the selection is the service's spell id, re-found by scan, and a filtered row is hidden, not removed (2231) - a spell's miss or resist floats in spell gold, and a travelling spell's word waits for the projectile; only a white hit's miss is white (2229) - a press that lands on a nameplate is the plate's: no freelook, no camera turn, the plate's own click slot (2233) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

the guild MOTD prints at login, and a maximize no longer crashes
- the "Guild Message of the Day:" line prints in chat at login: our own guild id arriving is not a guild change, and the guild feed waits for the interface it fires into (2214) - maximizing or resizing the window after entering the world no longer crashes the client: the dismissed loading tip asks for a re-shape (2212) - the vendor's compare plate is the worn item's full tooltip with one gray "Currently Equipped" line first, its name in its quality colour (2216) - the login chat drain waits for the chat frame it prints into, so a realm's welcome line is never lost one login in six (2220) - the GPU meter never resolves a query set nothing has stamped yet — the Vulkan device loss and hang the lab met (2211) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

loot rows wear their art, W holds through chat, and food greys in combat
- loot rows show their Quickslot border, depress on click and light up under the cursor: the stock `<LootButton>` is parsed by the Button loader, as the reference's vtable has it (2195) - holding W keeps you running through Enter to chat and M to close the map: a UI frame eating a key never releases a held movement binding (2196) - food, drink, bandages and mounts grey out on the action bar in combat: an ITEM slot runs its on-use spell's usable walk, and its cooldown gate is the item-keyed on-hold record (2200, 2201) - re-clicking the character you already have selected keeps its facing instead of snapping it square (2194) - the shift-compare plate seats beside the tooltip and is owned by the engine, so a stale plate never rides over the next hover (2202) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

camera rows land in Options, brightness arrives, /reload loses nothing
- fourteen settings get their switch on the Options window: the Camera box from Follow Terrain and Head Bob to Water Collision and Smart Pivot, plus Attack on Assist, Auto Clear AFK, Auto Self Cast, Enhanced Tooltips, Player Guild Names and Show Target Damage (2180) - the Graphics page gains Weather Intensity, scaling rain, snow and mist, and Brightness, applied as a final pass over the whole finished frame; GetGamma and SetGamma answer in the slider's unit (2181, 2182) - hovering a disabled button fires no OnEnter, no OnLeave and no highlight, as the reference's does, so AtlasLoot's unset QuickLook buttons stop throwing a Lua error on every hover (2183) - a chat window dragged, resized, recoloured or renamed just before a /reload keeps the change, and the meeting stone's minimap icon comes back after a /reload while you are still queued (2184) - swimming at the surface, the camera stops snapping into your character every couple of seconds: the water leg of the camera trace is a bare ray, as the reference's is, so the boom stops on the plane rather than a probe radius short of it (2185) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

NTFS load order, a title-sorted AddOns list, and tooltips at the cursor
- addons load in the order NTFS lists a folder, case-insensitive with an underscore before the letters, the order the vanilla corpus was written against and the one that decides which addon provides a shared library (2178) - GetNumAddOns and the index form of every AddOn verb walk a title-sorted list that hides the Blizzard addons the server says to hide, and the character-select AddOns list is in title order (2175) - SetPoint and SetAllPoints raise the reference's own errors for a frame name that does not exist or an omitted relative frame instead of quietly anchoring to the parent, and an explicit nil means the screen root (2176) - a tooltip owned with ANCHOR_CURSOR follows the mouse, which pfUI's tooltip, xpbar and chat modules, pfQuest's browser and TipBuddy ask for; an omitted or unknown anchor is ANCHOR_LEFT (2176) - a $parent name handed to CreateFrame, CreateTexture or CreateFontString expands as it does in XML, so FonzAppraiser's thirty dropdowns and pfQuest's search icon get the names they asked for (2176) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

pfUI's hdgraphic runs, the plates settle, and the water camera comes out
- pfUI's hdgraphic module runs: SetWorldDetail and GetWorldDetail are real verbs with the reference's three stops, and the near clip plane is a live setting at 0.100 yd rather than a frozen 0.111 (2163) - nameplates stop drawing a black box on hover or click, stop jittering a frame behind a moving creature, and a unit that walks into range later gets its plate; a unit with no level wears no skull, and the wheel zooms over a plate (2168) - the faint one-pixel box around every letter of a magnified overhead name is gone, each glyph now carrying its own transparent padding; interface text drawn at 1:1 is byte-identical (2169) - the camera's water collision comes back out for now: its pivot corridor dropped the camera a yard in one frame at head depth, which is the snapping reported around the surface while swimming (2165) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

plates take the mouse, Auctioneer loads, and the damage font is yours
- hovering a nameplate lights its unit and clicking one selects it, pfUI's click-through works, a drag that starts on a plate still turns the camera, and turning plates off with V clears them (2159) - Auctioneer's XML documents open (the reference has no XML namespaces), a .toc line reaching Blizzard_AuctionUI's templates resolves for Auctioneer, BeanCounter and SpecialTalentUI, and a missing include logs rather than raising the red error dialog (2155) - a .lua reached through <Script file=> carries the same Interface\AddOns\ chunk name as a .toc-listed one, so Ace2's debugstack split works and AtlasLoot keys its database; 26 more corpus addons load, 176 of 219 (2155) - the floating combat numbers draw in whatever DAMAGE_TEXT_FONT holds at world entry, so MikScrollingBattleText and pfUI pick the font (2156); a dodged swing prints no line and floats no word, and happiness leech lines print (2157) - an unknown frameStrata in XML logs and keeps the default instead of raising, so EQL3's log window loads; FrameXML_Debug is a real switch, so ImprovedErrorFrame loads (2160) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

zone channels survive a border crossing, and nameplates survive a login
- crossing a zone border prints one Changed Channel line instead of a leave and a join, and General and LocalDefense keep printing in the new zone; walking out of a capital keeps Trade's number and its registration instead of dropping it (2130) - outside a capital the channel numbers are the reference's: a fresh character holds 1 General, 2 Trade (suspended until a city) and 3 LocalDefense, so /2 reaches the same channel it does on the real client (2137) - logging into a character reads that character's zone, not the previous one's, so a login in the Eastern Plaguelands no longer joins and leaves Stormwind's channels first; a chat cache with General saved as a custom name gets its id back (2130) - the Show Tutorials option survives a /reload: it loaded unchecked and clicking it reset every dismissed tutorial account-wide; a world entry no longer switches off nameplates you had turned on (2131, 2132) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

an addon's font draws in its own face, and Bartender2 keeps its profile
- text shapes in the face an addon asked for: MikScrollingBattleText draws in its own Porky instead of a system sans, and Arial Narrow and Friz Quadrata are no longer drawn by the Mac's own fonts (2123) - Bartender2 and Cartographer stop resetting their profile at every login: a stack trace opens on the caller, where AceDB reads its addon's folder; a font's reported height is a number before its face resolves, which Tablet-2.0 does arithmetic on (2121, 2129) - a button highlight built from a texture object draws, so Bongos' bar-drag button, _Nameplates' mouseover glow and Quiver's option rows show theirs; clearing a state texture removes it instead of drawing it in every state (2124) - a toc's repeated SavedVariables lines add up, so all 25 of CT_RaidAssist's saved globals persist instead of seven; colour-mapped TGA icons decode, so FonzAppraiser's and FuBar_WeaponRebuffFu's draw (2126, 2128) - MikScrollingBattleText's DoT lines are back with their school tints, and the school word is capitalised; a chat line with no colour stays white, and the short colour-id form of adding a message works (2127, 2125) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

cooldowns survive a relog, the MOTD prints, and lost channels come back
- a cooldown still running when you log out and back in keeps sweeping instead of vanishing, and another character no longer inherits the previous session's cooldowns (2116) - the server's Welcome and Patch 1.12 lines print at login in system yellow, and a character whose General, Trade and LocalDefense had gone silent for good gets them back at the next login (2119, 2120) - the stock Interface Options window loads hidden beside ours, so pfUI's options skin finds the real thing; the Auto-join Guild Recruitment Channel row has a real store, and a /reload no longer trips on its camera dropdowns (2115) - the combat log words a power gain on the display scale, so MikScrollingBattleText shows +1 Rage where it showed +10; a 1.12 predicate answers 1 or nil rather than a Lua boolean, the test ColorPickerPlus makes (2117, 2118) - a Lua error quotes a program element with a backquote the way 5.0 does, so AceLibrary's argument checks report their caller instead of raising inside the error path (2122) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

idle sits you down and camps you, and the addons anchor, parse and draw
- five idle minutes sit you down and flag you AFK, thirty log you out through the ordinary countdown; holding a key is idle, moving the mouse is not, and a swimmer stays afloat (2092) - a knockdown no longer wedges: the landing froze the clip that held the base-animation lock, leaving a knocked-down player on their back for the session (2098); the perf cost pill starts hidden (2099) - Lua is exactly 1.12's 5.0 — no vararg expression, no #, no %, the remembered table size — so Cartographer loads without errors and Mik's Scrolling Battle Text shows its text, in its own shipped font now that addon TTFs load (2101, 2102, 2103) - a widget name is a Lua global for SetPoint and its kin, so Bartender2's bars spread out; a button's NormalText disowns its justify, the raise renumbers hidden frames too, and a missing toc file warns instead of erroring (2105, 2100, 2104, 2107, 2106) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

the model pane takes the file's camera, and the who list sorts
- the `<Model>` widget's perspective leg: a pane whose file supplies the camera it selected renders through a camera of its own whose viewport is its own cell of the same tile atlas — the reference's structure, one target, a viewport per widget, depth cleared per widget — with the composite, packer and reaper untouched; the selection is RAW (`0x76cec0` reads the count off `MD20+0x124` and the record at `[model+0x3c4] + idx·0x84 + 0x80`, `cameraLookup` never consulted), so `M2Model::cameras` is the whole table in file order and `benilla-extract m2cam` prints it, reproducing wow-re's numbers to the digit; the camera is two fields because the reference has two — `+0x320` a PENDING index and `+0x31c` the installed one — and while a request is pending the pane paints nothing (`76d5f0`'s draw gate, now the paint list's own filter); an index past the count installs the NULL camera, which IS the orthographic leg every shipped in-game pane takes; the projection is the booths' byte-derived diagonal-FOV matrix at the pane's aspect, and the eye and target ride the model's root transform as `0x718960`'s publish does — so `SetFacing` cancels along with `SetPosition` and `SetModelScale`, a contradiction with a wow-re note that went out as a §5 round and came back agreeing: the up vector `0x7ac640` builds is model-space +Z at roll 0, the very axis the facing turns about, and the note's sentence is scoped to `<PlayerModel>`'s frozen camera; each perspective camera takes a render layer of its own from a pool of eight, the orthographic camera clears the atlas and every perspective one clears only depth; `SetLight` is a typed `CGLight` that folds each intensity into its colour, normalises a direction on write, quantizes to 8 bits, returns before the copy on `SetLight(0, …)` and reads the second intensity at index 8 on a short ambient block; the five fog verbs are built (`ClearFog` is `76f5c5 and [edi+0x3a4],-2`, bit 0 alone), so the `Model` UNBUILT list is empty for the first time since 1134; a pane that arms a light or fog takes a rig from a lazily-grown pool, and the tiles' material twins — never reaped since the cache was written — are; `WOW_PROBE_MODEL_CAMERA=1` reads the renderer's own camera back for the three cancellations, `pass=5 fail=0` (2027)
- the layout cache writes in the shutdown tail: an unlocked chat window's size and position did not survive `/logout` or `/reload` and `benilla-config/layout/` was never created (B353) — the lane was right (1.12.1 persists a chat window through `StartMoving`/`StartSizing` and the engine's userPlaced bit; no `SetChatWindowSaved*` verb exists in the 5875 FrameXML), but `UiLayoutPlugin` hung its flush on `OnExit(InWorld)`, which a `/reload` never leaves, its debounced writer was never registered in `Update` at all, and on the roots where the edge did fire the VM-reading saver raced `end_ui_session`'s VM replacement on the same unordered edge (measured: the placement moves with nothing but registration positions); the reference's UI shutdown `0x490bd0` has an ordered tail — `PLAYER_LOGOUT` (`0x490c2a`) → `layout-cache.txt` (`0x490c79`) → the flat saved file (`0x490c7e`) → the per-addon files → `AddOns.txt` — on the same five roots as SavedVariables, `/reload` included, so `save_now` joins `shutdown_ui_state` in that slot, one call site reached from every root, and its own edges are deleted; the debounce stays as the crash writer and only that, a deliberate divergence, and the chat-look flush next door is pinned `.before(end_ui_session)` (2029); the VM gets its font engine at the LOAD edge: the measurer was seated only from an `Update` system on the first frame the glyph atlas exists, but `ReloadUI()` mints a fresh VM and runs the in-game load in the same exclusive slot, so every `<OnLoad>` and every addon's file scope measured 0 through the whole reload (`LOAD MEASURE ZERO` live, 33.185 after) — `seat_text_measurer` is one construction site called from both edges; the options tabs fit once from `<OnShow>`, the `OptionsTab_FitWidth` OnUpdate poll and its `fitted` latch gone, because `GetStringWidth` answers in the region's own units and this window's 0.78 scale is applied in the window's own `<OnShow>` after every `<OnLoad>` — an OnLoad fit read 73.19 where the settled value is 76.47; the settled widths are unchanged to the last digit (76.467232 / 91.661896) and the one-frame 72/87 flash at every open goes; four comments that still called the text measure a frame late, and seven gossip-suite comments that put `UIPanelScrollFrameTemplate` in our `ScrollTemplates.xml` when it lives in the reference's `UIPanelTemplates.xml`, are corrected (2028)
- the `/who` sort is a seven-key chain, not "order by the clicked column" (B365): the reference keeps seven `{key, dir}` slots at `0xc2817c`, seeded zone → level → class → group → name → race → guild; `SortWho` (`0x5ad890`) promotes the clicked key to the front and flips its direction ONLY when it was already there — Name, Name reverses, Name, Level, Name restores what the first click left — and the comparator `0x5ada00` walks the chain as tie-breakers, most-recently-used first, through an ASCII fold (`A`–`Z` by `+0x20`, not a Unicode one), the three DBC arms comparing the localized name out of `ChrClasses`/`ChrRaces`/`AreaTable` where ours had sorted by raw id, and an unresolved row TIES (its miss jumps to `0x5adbb2`, the chain loop's own `inc esi`); the click fires `WHO_LIST_UPDATE` synchronously through `SignalEvent` at `0x5ad9ed`, so the binding promotes and sorts the snapshot and the handler repaints before the OnClick returns, where ours redrew a tick later — a redraw one click stale reads exactly like a header that does nothing; the chain is process state (initialised once from `0x401666`), so it survives a logout; the rider from the same carve: `SMSG_WHO` has two exits, and with `SetWhoToUI` clear more than three rows go to the frame with nothing printed and three or fewer to chat (`0x5adfcc jl`, `eax = 3`) where we printed every unclaimed answer; and wow-re's §11 round corrected the first build before it landed — the chat lines come out in WIRE order with the total line LAST, because `0x5ae0a1` composes each line inside the parse loop and the `qsort` at `0x5ae0e2` sits past its back-edge (2030)
- two lighting reports, one frame and one bit each: the surfacing hitch (B354) is a one-frame stale atmosphere — `update_time_lighting` is late by construction, waiting on the wire drain, the weather tick and the submersion verdict, and five `Update` systems that read the `WowLighting` it resolves declared no ordering, so the executor handed each of them last frame's value, deterministically and invisibly while the atmosphere drifts a minute at a time; at a submersion crossing it jumps, on the very frame the sky and cloud domes un-hide, so the first dry frame painted `LightParams` 27's underwater sky over a dry world (the clip's blue frame, (58, 137, 173) against the settled (53, 58, 34)) and `tick_clouds`' surfacing full-rebuild ran at the underwater cloud density, 0.0, rebuilding an empty field that crept back over 0.4 s — the fix for the pop-in handing the symptom straight back; `LightingConsumeSet` names the read side of `LightingResolveSet`, tied in one place, and four consumers join it, the FFX haze and warp are ordered after the verdict they had the same hole against, and two tests enforce it — zero ambiguities between the two sets, and a source scan over `benilla-world` that fails any `WowLighting` reader not in the set; `emit_minimap` is left stale knowingly because joining cost a 178th item through the world API wall; `WOW_FORCE_SUB=<frames>` holds the eye verdict submerged and releases it, so the crossing reproduces server-less (2032); the black furniture below a boat's deck (B373): `MeshTag` bits 6..=13 are the exterior payload's ground-shade byte and bits 6..=18 the interior payload's SH-probe slot, and `entity_shade` guarded the overlap by asking whether a part was on the interior classifier's Bake law — one of the TWO populations holding a probe slot; the other is a lit interior MODD prop, which a WMO-display GameObject parents under the net entity so it sails with the deck, putting it inside the light node's descendant walk — so every frame the boat's shade byte was written over each prop's slot, `(slot & 0x1f00) | byte`: a neighbouring prop's light where that row was live, a zeroed row — solid black — where it was not; the guard now asks the payload question (`probe_payload`) at both write sites, the tag's bits and the marker derived from one binding; measured live at Ratchet, 749 of 749 resident interior prop parts renamed before, 0 of 640 after, and both ledger leads refuted at the bytes — the MODD colours are healthy (`floor112` raises even `#010101` to diffuse 112) and the fold is rigid-motion invariant since every 1.12 transport authors zero MOLR lights; a prop's mouseover identity now names its lane, words and probe slot, and `WOW_PICK` prints `model_flags.z` (2031); the sea-crossing probe can now measure the seam a report names — an explicit `WOW_PROBE_DOCK` goes first, boards only once the body stands at the dock, carries a map id, takes only a candidate within boarding distance, and drops onto the deck rather than into the hull, because a taxi node's `z` is the WATERLINE for the sea ferries while their decks stand ~16 yd above it — and the seam re-anchor returns the cycle it moved to or `None`, so a healthy crossing no longer logs the server's 9.7 h uptime as a skew inside a 350 s cycle

the minimap and world map go stock, and the chat loses its white plate
- the minimap cluster and the battleground list are the reference's own `Minimap.xml` and `BattlefieldFrame.xml`, ours deleted, and the sixteen engine names the static probe found unbound are built, not stubbed: the battleground list and queue family (the as-group join refused client-side with no packet when the map's `MaxPlayers` is below the group), the bodyless `CMSG_BATTLEFIELD_STATUS` on world enter — benilla never sent it, so a queue joined before a reconnect was invisible — the 5.5556 yd `BATTLEFIELDS_CLOSED` leash, and the meeting-stone pair over the `0x295` five-way table with both asymmetries; the ping's lifetime is the stock Lua's now (held 5 s, faded 0.5 s), `GetPingPosition` answers two numbers always — our nil was a Lua error on every frame of the stock `Minimap_OnUpdate` — and the map-change drop the reference never had is gone (1974)
- the world map is the reference's own `WorldMapFrame.xml`, our transcription deleted; built for it: the arrow-frame family (an anonymous `Model` child at its 33.6 px footprint, drawn app-side as the minimap's own arrow sprite through one shared constant), the battleground position family over `MSG_BATTLEGROUND_PLAYER_POSITIONS` both ways (the reference's 5000 ms request throttle), and `GetPlayerMapPosition` resolving `raid1..raid40` where it knew only the party (B320); `SetupFullscreenScale` — the engine binding `0x48c270` the map's and the cinematic frame's OnShow call, which our map had stood in for with Lua — is bound to the carved law `min(0.75 · aspect, 1)` off the configured aspect, written through the frame's own `SetScale` (1.0 at 4:3 and wider, 0.9375 at 5:4); a hovered POI writes the map's own area label, not the tooltip; named gap: `WorldMapPing` draws nothing yet (1980, 1981)
- the tutorial frame is the reference's own `TutorialFrame.xml`, over a tutorial system benilla never had: two bit banks filled from `SMSG_TUTORIAL_FLAGS` — the fire-once bank `TriggerTutorial` reads and sets (never a send) and the acknowledged bank `FlagTutorial` writes and sends; there is no tutorial CVar in the binary (210 `CVar::Register` sites censused), so "disable tutorials" is every bit acknowledged; the sites this app can produce are wired (the world-enter Welcome cascade, the level-up arm, item pushes, the loot sparkle, the meeting-stone and battleground arms), the rest named; the loader learned `<TitleRegion>` — the stock frame's drag handle, a region that emits no quad; and the `TabardModel` widget kind arrives ahead of its window, five ints bounded by the `.rdata` table `{170, 17, 6, 17, 51}` and the constant 100 000 tabard cost (1976, 1977)
- the chat window drew as an opaque white plate: the chat-cache loader, gated on `InWorld` alone, restored into the boot VM 130 ms before the deferred entry load filled it, and its per-VM memo then blocked the restore that would have reached the real frames — the plate the stock Lua tints black stayed the XML's white; between the entry edge and the load there is now no VM in the world (the edge parks the boot VM, the load takes it back), so no in-world feed pushes into a VM with no interface; the perf pill reads `59 fps 7.0 ms 17.3 cpu` — the MAIN thread's milliseconds in full text and the process-wide sum dim, because the sum of every thread's CPU time had been read as a frame time (a raid read 17 on it at a solid 60 with the main thread at 7); and `WOW_PROBE_UI_ONE_TEX=1` is a pricing lever, never a look, for the draw-count ceiling a UI atlas would reach before one is built (1978, 1954)

- right-clicking a vendor with an item on the cursor sells it: `0x5df5d0` asks `GetCursorItem` before anything else and a non-zero answer takes the arm to `CMSG_SELL_ITEM` instead of `CMSG_LIST_INVENTORY`, where benilla sent the list unconditionally — the whole stack, to the clicked vendor, with no merchant-window gate anywhere in the arm; the clear is `SetCursorItem(0, …)` rather than `ClearCursor`, which fires `CURSOR_UPDATE` and leaves the source slot greyed until the server's inventory update (1914); and the NPC you are talking to is not clickable: `0x5f0130` refuses a right-click on the NPC whose window is already open, against a global with exactly two writers — the interaction setter, whose fourteen callers are every one a window opener, and its clear — so the first click always gets through and no double-click is eaten, where benilla re-sent the arm's opcode on every click (1866) - a Hated or Hostile questgiver's `!` now disappears, every `!` blinks off and back on when you resurrect, and the minimap no longer dots a corpse, your own pet or an untrackable unit: the sweep tears down on HOSTILITY, not on the flag — `0x5eb134` is a convergent block reached from two branches, so three incompatible readings had each seen one path — and an escort giver's `!` clearing with its flag is the field watch instead, which B257 now rests on; the dots gain `0x4eaa90`'s three preconditions (1906); the quest log's rebuild is all-or-nothing — the reference makes every rebuild a no-op until its template misses are answered, so a cold log shows empty and then lands in one step, never our `"..."` row per in-flight quest — sorted level then title, case-insensitively, with the `id == 0` group first under the reference's own "Missing header! (quest designers)"; and `GetQuestLogTitle`'s `isHeader`/`isCollapsed` answer 1/nil, not booleans - an animation event has a place, not just a time: the M2 event kernel (`0x719370`) places each fired key through its bone, and benilla carried the when and the what and never the where, so every animation-event sound played at the model root — 149 of 244 `$DSL` records sit off their model's origin, out to 67.6 yd on `Maraudon_Waterfall01.m2` — and the point belongs to the record, not the tag, since 75 models author one tag twice; doodad, GameObject and shake sounds now sound where the key is (1904); and the unit dispatcher's arms do not agree about the point they are handed — footsteps and emotes at the event point (the footstep's material foley stays at the origin), `$TRD` at the origin, `$CSD` at attachment 17 rather than its head-mounted records, `$CSS` at the event point on a hit and attachment 1 on a miss — with `0x623b90`'s attachment-else-bias resolver transcribed table and all (1915) - `GetSkillLineInfo` out of range answers the reference's thirteen-value tuple, numbers in the rank slots, not a single nil — the stock skill window adds two of those slots unguarded straight off `SetSelectedSkill(0)`, so one nil raises the moment it drives us; one shape serves every out-of-range case because the bounds test at `0x4d3675` is a single unsigned compare, and our source had asserted the opposite (1919); the outbound wire is traced by name (`out`, mirroring `in`), a line pushed only after a successful write — a 5-second visit to the Goldshire poster reads as 87 lines (1901); the binding shape gate seats a player and checks the `Unit*` verbs it had been skipping, coverage 220 → 249, all agreeing with the reference (1911); and a UI capture scenario opts the UI in itself instead of photographing a UI-less world and exiting 0, the opt-in answering `false` in a player build that has no harness Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

the unit frames are the reference's own, and the water has motes in it
- the player, party, target and pet frames are the reference's own files (`BuffFrame`, `UnitFrame`, `CombatFeedback`, `PlayerFrame`, `PartyFrame`, `TargetFrame`, `PetFrame`, in the reference's toc order) — our 2741-line `UnitFrames.xml` and our `PartyFrame.xml` are deleted; four engine verbs built for them (`PartialPlayTime`, `NoPlayTime`, `UnitPlayerControlled`, `UnitIsCivilian`, each answering 1/nil), the whole-UI load bracketed in the counted sound-suppression scope `0x48fbf0` self-brackets (the reference fires a `PlaySound` during load and throws it away), and `GetBillingTimeRested` read off `SMSG_AUTH_RESPONSE`'s third billing field rather than hardcoded; the differences the stock files bring are pinned rather than papered — `PlayerFrame` never hides, an unresolved name is BLANK not "Unknown", the target frame has no numerals at all (a bar hover pops the unit tooltip instead) - what the swap surfaced, each a hard break under the stock files: `UnitBuff`/`UnitDebuff` returned the Classic Era ten-value tuple, name first, where 1.12 returns two and three values TEXTURE first (`0x519500`/`0x5198f0`) — a raise twice per `UNIT_AURA` on any debuffed target, and all 184 corpus call sites bind the 1.12 shape; the power events are named per resource (`UNIT_MANA`/`RAGE`/`FOCUS`/`ENERGY`/`HAPPINESS` and their MAX twins) and we fired the Era pair, so no mana, rage or energy bar could live-update; `SetRaidTarget` is the engine verb and `SetRaidTargetIcon` the FrameXML toggle wrapper — we had registered the wrapper's name on the engine's body, so every raid mark in the unit popup raised - the underwater drift cloud: the reference draws a fixed 4000-mote field whenever the camera eye is inside a liquid — not a particle system, nothing spawns, ages or dies; a population scattered once into a 30 yd camera-relative cube, advected by the camera's own motion plus a gust and wrapped, so the field stands still in the world; benilla had the murk and nothing in it; a dry frame commits no draw, and the submerged one is bounded by the reference's own 666-quad cap (633–644 of 4000 measured live, which is the expected survivor count of a uniform cube through the 90° cone — an independent check on population, distribution and cone at once) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Enter World stops freezing character select, and bags close by the law
- Enter World stops freezing the character screen: from the click, the select image stayed on the glass ~100 ms because the loading cover could not draw until the state-flip frame — which cost 60 ms, 57 of it render+present: the world camera's first render of a 3000-entity world on cold pipelines, plus fifteen booth cameras waking on the very frame that owes the glass a cover; the glue now yields the glass on the click's own frame and the world camera (booths with it) holds off until the cover has presented — flip frame 60 → 43 ms and off the critical path — measured by the new `WOW_FRAME_PHASES` instrument, which stamps every phase of a frame and prints the render+present remainder no in-schedule stamp can see - switching to a character you haven't clicked before no longer flashes somebody else's body in their stage — the background swapped the frame the selection changed while the character waited for its whole assembly, so whichever won is what the screen showed (53 ms of the human standing in the orc's stage, and the reverse under a stage still loading); stage and character now commit as a PAIR, loads still starting on the click and an empty stage still swapping at once — on the same cold walk, eight selections make eight rebakes, every one the right body in the frame its stage lands, where before it was twelve with four of them wrong - the bank's six bag buttons repaint again — the stock UI repaints them only on `PLAYERBANKSLOTS_CHANGED`, which benilla fired for the vault's 24 slots alone, so a bag dropped in never appeared and one moved between slots stayed drawn in the one it left; the lock clear becomes its own system ordered ahead of BOTH feeds (resolve, then push, then fire), ending the stuck-grey icon — and `GetInventoryItemCount` is carved as not-the-stack-count: an EMPTY slot answers 1 (a sentinel, not a count), a container past the slot cutoff answers a literal 0 before any lookup (the whole answer to the stray digit on the bank's bag buttons), and an equipped bag answers the SUM of its contents gated on a DBC bit our class-11 guess missed twice — including the Soul Bag, so a warlock's shard count never showed - the bags close by the law: `BAG_CLOSED` is the only thing in all of FrameXML that hides an open bag window, and benilla never fired it, so a window outlived its bag in both bands (equipped and bank); the carve pins the condition — the bag changed AND the slot was occupied — so a swap fires BAG_CLOSED then BAG_UPDATE with the slot occupied throughout, an unequip fires it with the announce suppressed for exactly that transition, and two identical empty bags exchanged between slots still close both windows, because the diff is on the bag's own guid rather than the container state; `PLAYERBANKSLOTS_CHANGED` meanwhile turns out to carry NO arguments — a census of all 485 dispatcher call sites — the slot travels in how many times it fires, and every bank button repaints from its own slot id Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

the chat dock exists, and alt-arrow keys are declined not swallowed
- the chat dock is a list, not a hardcoded pair: DOCKED_CHAT_FRAMES, SELECTED_DOCK_FRAME and the FCF verbs — DockFrame, UnDockFrame, DockUpdate, SelectDockFrame, SaveDock, SetTabPosition, Close and the button-side trio — are transcribed from FloatingChatFrame.lua, and every "for i = 1, 2" moved to what it meant, the dock or every window; the dock seeds at load from the window record's own docked byte handed to FCF_DockFrame, whose first line IS the reference's early return — transcribing the function that answers the way the reference answers, where an empty stub "because we have no dock" would have been the bandaid; its unconditional re-lock cannot clobber an unlock you saved, because the stored look is applied last; pfUI's RefreshChat now runs end to end - ignoreArrows is alt-arrow mode, and the arrow is DECLINED, not swallowed: the reference's edit-box handler returns unconsumed on an arrow key, so the walk carries it past the box and it runs TURNLEFT — the whole feature is steering while the chat box holds focus, where the old reading left the arrows dead; holding Alt resumes the caret; SetAltArrowKeyMode and its getter land with the reference's own quirk that a missing argument enables while nil disables (the getter answers 1 or nil, never a boolean), SetIgnoreArrows turns out not to exist in 1.12 and is unpublished, and the binding pass gets a named four-key exemption rather than a hole, because the handler consumes every other path - pfUI's square minimap is actually square: Minimap:SetMaskTexture makes the disc's mask state instead of a load-time constant — write-only from Lua, as shipped, no invented getter — where an empty path restores the round default and a failed load keeps the current mask and warns, because either mistake would otherwise hand a mistyped path a silently square map that looks like a feature; and MiniMapBattlefieldFrame grows the Border and Shine regions beside its icon, on the reference's own layers — icon on BACKGROUND, ring on ARTWORK above it, the only order a ring around an icon can draw in — which pfUI hides unguarded to sit the icon flush Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

held weapons pick, book images size to their art, the panel opens again
- a unit's pick geometry is every model chained to it — body, held items, mount — one candidate per root resolving to the same unit, which is how the reference registers its pick (it walks the attachment tree and registers each model); Naxxramas' floating weapons could only be selected by their name plate before (no body, no candidate), and every armed unit gains its gear as clickable surface (our own body 12 → 21 tested parts); the broad phase stays the body's sphere, so a very long polearm on a small body is the named residual - the selection ring's writer has two branches and we had transcribed one: a model whose stand box is degenerate (zero extent in x and y) rings at the literal 1.2 × scale — 2.7 yd under a trigger creature — instead of `sqrt(0.5·sqrt(dx²+dy²))` = 0 clamped to an invented 0.05 floor; both invented fallbacks are gone - an HTML book image with no width/height is its art's texel square (one texel = one FrameXML unit, bit-for-bit the `<AbsDimension>` converter), not the rest of the page — *A Treatise on Military Ranks* drew its crest twice too big and stretched to the page's aspect; a texture-size oracle answers off the same decoder the renderer draws with, and an unfloated height-less `<IMG>` reserves its art's height in the flow; 797 shipped textures swept, exactly two zero-size axes move and neither is visible - the dev debug panel killed the client on open with "Attachments have differing sample counts": Bevy's 2-D depth texture is keyed on the render target alone, so two Camera2ds on one window at different MSAA counts cannot both be valid, and the egui overlay camera had silently kept the default 4× after the player-UI camera went to Off; it now says `Msaa::Off`, and a preflight check reports any two 2-D cameras that disagree on a shared target, every run Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

the camera follows again, /errors opens the log, cmangos lets you in
- the camera auto-follow returns, as a setting: Camera Following Style on the Controls options page — Smart (the default), Always, Never — so after an orbit drag the camera swings back behind you while you run; far sight still forces the chase off - broken addons announce themselves: world entry prints "3 addon load failures — type /errors to see them", and the `/errors` window lists every script error this session with its traceback — 256 deduplicated rows, repeats collapsing onto a count — while the five load-failure classes that only ever hit the terminal (missing .toc, unparseable FrameXML, dependency cycles…) finally get a channel - B opens the backpack alone, SHIFT-B opens all bags, F8–F11 toggle the individual slots — the reference's six bag commands instead of one command wearing every chord; and the Skills page gets its CLOSE button, with the ALL fold in the row font - cmangos-classic logons work: `CMSG_AUTH_SESSION` now carries the real client's twelve secure-addon records (342 bytes, compressing to 130) — an empty addon block is a shape no client can send, and cmangos kicks for it where vmangos shrugs; Warden-enabled anticheat remains a separate wall Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

addon-screen polish, and item glows return to the paper doll
- every glue-screen string renders its colour markup — the addon tooltip included, which used to print its |cff… codes raw - the addon list's scroll knob finally drags, on one shared slider law: press anywhere on the track and the knob warps under your cursor and follows, exactly as 1.12's slider behaves - item effects survive the character sheet and dressing room again — a booth bake is premultiplied by construction and is no longer premultiplied twice, which had been erasing every glow hanging in the space beside the model - the login one-shot announcements wait for the in-game UI to exist before they fire Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

glyphs at their true size — the ladder that scrambled text is gone
- text rasterizes every glyph at its exact on-screen size, on demand — the fixed size ladder and its rescale-after-snap are gone, the machinery that left names scrambled and lines off their baseline after a window resize - the worldport ack now rides the load's completion the way the real client sends it, and the near-teleport echo stands alone as the whole handshake - a floating combat number whose anchor leaves the screen is destroyed rather than dragged to the border, and a trailing line break ends its line instead of opening a new one - entering the world, the loading cover provably presents before the UI builds behind it, holds the world's audio while it is up, and fails closed Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

addon art resolves: loose textures, TGA and the honest return
- an addon's own texture files resolve from its folder, TGA included, and SetTexture answers 1 or nil the way the client does — custom icons and skins draw - runtime SetParent re-levels a frame by the client's strata law, and the raise survives hide-and-show round-trips — AtlasLoot layers right - an addon that unregisters an event mid-fire no longer robs the next addon of the same event — Bagnon's per-character database fills again - the Model widget's clock truncates milliseconds like the client's, and the no-text cast-bar law is confirmed at the bytes and narrowed to the cast bar alone Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

script errors reach the player, and the bars stop lying
- an addon error shows the red script-error dialog the reference shows, and a runaway load loop can no longer freeze world entry - food and drink show stack counts from the first login, and a paladin's aura bar lights the aura that is actually on - logging out no longer erases the character from saved-bag addons: the player's absence is no data - MPQ patches are discovered the way the client discovers them, and a slow arrival holds in place instead of falling through the world Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

the wheel binds, one AddOns screen, text at the true scale
- SetBinding accepts the mouse wheel — the refusal was ours, not the client's — so wheel-bound action buttons press and release like the real thing - one addon load law: a single arbiter for "can this addon load, and why not", with the out-of-date version gate live - one AddOns screen — the character-select list, wearing the authored reference layout: roster dropdown, per-character tri-state checkboxes, force-load; the ESC-menu panel is retired, since 1.12's own menu has no AddOns row - the glyph atlas follows the window scale, so maximised text stops washing out and a title stops measuring wider than it draws; an unpositioned frame positions nothing, instead of landing at the screen origin Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |
