I do think this well written post deserves to be answered. I especially second the concerns about the project not being open sourced, especially since they are using Snapjaw learnings without giving credit.

High Elves and Goblins are both part of Classic Warcraft yes, and just weren't previously playable. Remember the goblins that you saw manning the Zeppelin towers, or the High Elves sprinkled throughout the Alliance zones in the world, like Loch Modan? Turtle understood the difference between ...

Shamans on the Alliance and Paladins on the Horde goes completely against the spirit of the Classic Warcraft experience Turtle was trying to foster. The Octodevs should honour that.


Undead Hunter is not a classic, and neither is the remade territory and remade quests.

Yeah one of the key parts of the classic vibe is needing to actually coordinate with players and talk to one another. The party's hike to the dungeon is absolutely part of the cozy adventure feeling.
Not to mention it takes away from the usefulness of Warlock Summons and Mage Portals.

If the Octodevs understand at all the thing they are trying to bring back, they would not even entertain a poll on this subject. Paladins and Shaman being faction exclusive is a very deliberate part of the Classic experience, and Turtle not adding them after all this time wasn't a mistake or ...

I use Steam for its Proton layer; I find it makes things simple.
1) Add the launcher as a non-steam game
2) right click, properties
3) Force compatibility and select Proton 9
4) Launch

Also on Linux and having the exact problem that was described by OP. Going to dualboot Windows to use this.
