Half the replies are people focusing on the pants, ignoring completely the whole point of the post is the gm admitting that ninja in dungeons are acceptable and unpunishable. The other half is ok with ninja looting because "it's the essence of classic". Honestly disappointed

In a leveling scenario int is arguably the most important stat for all paladin specs. More mana equates to more spell usage in terms of mitigation, damage, and healing. The 18 spell power is the same way, more threat, more damage, more healing.

I don't think you quite have a grasp on how some classes prioritize stats. Those pants are perfectly useful for all paladin specs.

They didn't ninja anything, the healer just lost the roll.

Would you agree on a rogue getting an epic bow as a stat stick over a Hunter who needs it, then?

I'm pretty sure this has already been addressed though, unless set rules are determined beforehand like an SR system it's all technically fair game. Now if you choose to abuse that I'd assume you'd swiftly be replaced meanwhile making a name for yourself. But in this case both paladins are completely valid in rolling need.

Seen it happen more than once. If it's an upgrade it's an upgrade. At that point you're at the mercy of the rogues discretion assuming the hunter is a marksmen.

Funny you should mention that, because I was in a Deadmines group that had a Priest act really weird because me and a Paladin rolled need on Vancleef's Agility cloak, and we were the only ones there.

But to answer your question: I wouldn't care. If the stats are good for him then why not roll need on it? Sucks for the Hunter, but then again Hunters also can roll for melee weapons so it evens out, he can just roll need on a Dagger the Rogue might need.

Okay, but I was tanking and he would've rolled off-spec in that situation, which was not agreed upon at all until after-the-fact as a retroactive justification, product of being called out by others... but that's besides the point!!!
The pants are besides the point!!!
You can roll need on ANYTHING and that's OKAY! This is a concerning fact when playing pugs!

Sweetheart, I'm more concerned about the pugs being a pain in the ass by either talking complete and utter nonsense, or by being so horribly useless you may as well be playing with bots.

Ninja rolls are a pain sure, but at least I want the ninja be someone who I can communicate with and actually is making an effort to play.

Depending on the pants he was already wearing those could have been an upgrade, that's not off-spec.

This is exactly the problem is it not? This means that every time you want to play a dungeon, you need to explicitly tell everyone that PROT PALADINS queing as DPS should not NEED on a mail int+spell power over the holy pala (Just as an example on the context of this post. This applies to almost anything, like a warrior needing a bow over a hunter, tanks needing agility gear "because of armor", etc.) and they also have to agree to it everytime for it to work, and keep the screenshots saved everytime because otherwise gms don't care.
