Celso wrote: Wed Jun 10, 2026 11:19 pm I guess each of these cases should be evaluated individually and not take a general rule, but in this one specifically I do think a permaban is warranted because of the treachery afterwards basis (he “naively” asks a not-so-bright GM, and when he sees he gets his way, he takes even more advantage, and then when caught, hes still more worried about what he’s going to gain / recover out of it).

I find it more important to publish the GMs questions, and some form of api or transparency mechanism so when this happens again (because is inevitable), you actually caught it in time.

This has been “easy” because is a relatively small realm, and progression is tracked between guilds / players. But if the realm grows to 2-3K simultaneous, good luck following the trail.

TL;DR:

Permaban, publish GM selection questionare, make each GM permission and/or actions auditable.
I love the idea of a transparent, public facing auditing API, and also see it as a potentially difficult thing to implement when we have a lot of work ahead of us already. I personally disagree that it is inevitable that this happens again, but maybe that is me being the naive one, time will tell.

This was easy to catch not because it is a relatively small realm, but because our logging system is robust and audited. If this were to happen when our realm had 20k concurrent players we would be able to see the same results. If players had not reported this, our next audit (running the very next day) would have caught/flagged this and the results would have been the same, only potentially with a few more items to delete/punishments to dole out.

I also hope not, if you use your real IP anywhere online though, it's a risk you take ;)

We do some IP scrubbing but not all IP's as we still need them for IP banning some accounts.

Fyi, Turtle revealed my ing accounts, one of which contained my real name name/surname (not my smartest move :geek:
And I was immediately banned from their discord, the moment I asked why they did this to me

Yeah that sounds on brand... Turtle had some great devs, and they handled their PR in a very PR freindly way to prioritize growth from my perspective. We hope to be a bit more transparent (and responsible) than they were.

You won't get banned for calling us out on stuff like that, that much I can promise. (but Pig may Pig you)

Internally we felt it should be longer but where worried that was coming from a place of bias given we view this as a failing on our part. I am sure the team would be happy to consider something more if the community is in agreement on how it should be handled. No promises but we will discuss internally about it.
Sorry man but this is for a perma ban.
If u let this one slide you dont have to bother with fixing-bugs and stuff. The server will fail.

Kestrel,

It's refreshing to see the level of transparency and information about what happened. Huge props for that. However, when it comes to the abuse of GM powers, i.e item/gold spawning or collusion, a zero tolerance policy should be adopted.

I would like to be hopeful that this incident has shown that the actions of GMs won't go unnoticed, and I am huffing hopium that this demonstration of how you guys are logging this stuff prevents another incident in the future.

However, due to the severity of the incident and the reputational risk involved, I believe the best course of action is to permanently close the associated account.

Players like this are parasites and a stain on the community, and the team should take a firm stance against such behavior. A week long ban is a vacation, lost items can be regained. But a permanently banned account means starting from zero and sends a much stronger message.

Just my two cents.

I'm loving my time here and the hard work the team has done so far with restoration efforts, and I'm excited to see more.

If you don't permanently ban people involved in this it will absolutely destroy any credibility you hope to have, Most players would take a week vacation to get a full hand of rag, Its unacceptable to only receive a week long ban. Do not become a server where it's ok for GM's to spawn in items at will for players. Also you need to ensure you can absolutely trust a GM before giving them absolute access to these types of commands.
