Requests for "please whitelist me" will be ignored/denied. We will update the account whitelist page to display if you're current IP is actively white listed. If you find your IP not white listed, and you believe that it should be, please do let us know and we can look into if the list is full, or if you are ineligible for the whitelist for another reason (most likely that it will not help the specific issue you are having).
So...umm...if requests to "please whitelist me" are going to be ignored/denied...how do we let you know to look into the list to see if we are eligible or ineligible?

Also, is there a list somewhere we can look at?
I'm kind of starting to veer towards the comment where someone said: "They have absolutely no clue what they are doing."

Yes, at first it did seem like a well thought out strategy to use an anonymous service, but after said service constantly failing to deliver anything, I'd be moving on to a self hosted one, with my own HW, where I can implement my own custom filters without relying on someone who "doesn't work on the weekends", nor the weekdays.

Come on, Kestrel. A capable dev-team would've built their own solution in this timeframe, mate....

Damn, from the money you've spent on FlokiNet, Fable5 would've solved the problem even on a per-token API rate :D

Honestly, at this point I think I'm leaving Octo and coming back next month to see how things are faring. While I've been optimistic, this does seem like a neverending issue...

Same, it does not seem like this "team" can swallow the bite they have taken.
Or at the very least: they do not seem to have the teeth to chew it well...

Anyone who has been following this saga can clearly see the effort the team has put in.

It's been frustrating at times, but the uptime is clearly improving, and the team has a path to not only mitigate the attacks, but avoid shutdown by other means.

DDOS attacks are not trivial to mitigate. Blizzard chose to 'wait it out' rather than implement a proper fix https://www.wowhead.com/classic/news/dd ... air-376045

I am seeing a lot of people not understanding the situation.

We do not own our own hardware. We are not able to set our own L4 filtering upstream of the machine we control. We are not in control of the limits or efficacy of this whitelist. No amount of work or development would allow us to have our own L4 filtering solution independent of a third party provider. We can not get our own ASN.

We have evaluated 9 different DDoS protection providers now, who each claimed they could help. Most were no help at all, some were mildly useful for specific attack shapes and sometimes introduced their own issues.

One of the more effective providers was over filtering traffic, but had an API to add IP's to a whitelist (with a 500 IP limit that was not documented anywhere). That is the whitelist in question. The efficacy of the white list is not 100%, we have absolutely no visibility into why this is, as it is not our whitelist. We have made tickets with this provider and received no clarification.

If anyone wants to set up their own provider to offer these services to anonymous clients we would be very happy to be your first client. Otherwise we are waiting for FlokiNet to update their filtering to our specifications.
Sincerely,

Are you joking lol? Whitelisting ips to play a stolen private server?
What a scam lmao. Redownloaded in the hopes that the game might be playable again, then I read this.
Good luck with your dogshit scam project. Back to classic+ I guess.
