Any plans on "borrowing" from Epoch's custom content?

With Epoch being all but completly abandoned by the original developers, heavily neglected by the Ascension team, and closing eventually entirely, would it be possible to "canibalise" the awesome custom content from it?

There are some absolutelly stunningly beautiful addition that the Epoch team made that would fit nicely into Turtle, namely the Orgrimar expansion, the mountain pass between Mulgore and Desolace or the Troll and Gnome starting zones.

I understand that implementing it isn't easy, and I honestly don't know if it's even possible since Turtle runs on Vanilla client and Epoch is on Wotlk, but it would be a nice start for building NEW Turtle custom content.

I agree to some extend.
Some content from epoch was cool. Some was never finished, but with the future of Epoch being uncertain, it's questionable if we'd ever see that anyway.

2 things that instantly come to my mind that I'd like to see on Octo would be

a) overhauled Goldshire.

Like seriously! That town of Goldshire on Epoch was glorious and i evens et my hearthstone down there instead of Stormwind! It's cozy, a good hub for Roleplay, etc..

b) small profession quests here and there.
It was actually lots of fun that professions were more utelized even for questing.

c) Dungeon: Stonetalon Caverns
That one is unfinished on Epoch, but from what I got those are supposed to be the caverns where Thrall, Cairne and Jaina meet with Medivh. I was always curious where those were supposed to be and to explore those caverns would be really cool.

a) overhauled Goldshire.
The Butchering of Goldshire is one of the few things from Epoch that can stay forgoten.
Cool idea, but we don't need to re-imagine an area of Vanilla that was already good as it is.
More adding new content, less "cataclysming" content that is already there.

The "Commision" concept is really good, especially since they tried to tie them with actual story reasons for the NPC to want these commisions fullfilled.
Good, gives you a great reason to level your profesions as you level your character.

But that's not the type of content I had in mind.

Cool idea, but that's all it is, an idea. That dungeon does not exist, so Octo devs cannot "borrow" it.

and for the Cart System. Octo doesn't need that either. Not only is the Cataclysm model really ugly for a Classic+ server, it just cheapens the starting zones. Turtle had a much better solution with the lendable mounts.
We don't need the carts (especially since they're ugly), the 'problem' was solved in a more elegant way by the Turtle devs.

"Borrowing" map upgrades is the easier part, rather than scripting npcs and game systems.

Another good example of Epoch's wonderful map upgrades is the coast of Blasted Lands, the Upper Wetlands (even tho Turtle already has the Hawks fortress there, but honestly the Epoch's version is much better), or the Horde village in Tanaris. The Octo devs can then populate the areas with NPCs and Systems they feel fit the server the best.

And if we're talking about "borrowing" game system, I would love to see the Low Level World Boss system.
Such a fun to gather a raid of lvl 40s to take down a lvl 45 Gorilla in STV.

Idk what you mean by "butchering". I see what you mean with "cataclysming", but the changes from Cataclysm were much more radical.

I, as a long standing WarCraft Fan *even before World of WarCraft*, see the reimagining of Goldshire more of an upgrade, an upscaling. If you've read the books, you would quickly notice, that the World of WarCraft that we are playing in, is rather a miniature of how big the world of Azeroth would actually be.
That re-design of Goldshire on Epoch made it into an **actual village**. It gave back a sense of scale.

That's fair, but original Goldshire is fine as it is, it doesn't need a ground up remake. To be fair, none of the zones in Vanilla do, that's not what Classic+ should be about.

And especially not a remake with those ugly Alpha houses that team Epoch used.
I understand the sentiment, that 2 houses is laughably little for a town the size of Goldshire, and that the reimagining is more "lore accurate", but it's not necessary.

You might view that as ADDED content, but in reality it is a deleted content. And that's not what Classic+ should be about.

The Razor Hill remake I have mixed feelings about. Because on one hand it is the same situation, they remade a town that didn't in any way need remaking. But on the other, they made it look really good. Much better than Goldshire.

Same goes for Wailing Caverns (and DM). Those are really good looking dungeons. But at the same time, they deleted the original WC and DM. That's not needed, WC and DM are fine as they are in Vanilla (obviously they have been made slightly better in Turtle, but the original remains, it only added on top, not replaced.)
