Multiboxing

Multiboxing was rampant on turtle wow. It got way out of control. There was no way to stop it though because once you allow people to have two accounts (as per current turtle and now octowow rules) you cant then take it back. difficult to remove something people have gotten used to and invested time in.

I see the same is starting to happen here. Already lots of people running around with two accounts.

No better time to define these rules than a beta (early beta at that), when things are still subject to change.

My recommendation would be to add it to the dono store. I know I know, but think about it:
- This already takes care of more than 90% of cases.
- It supports the server.
- If you see someone running around with more than one account, at least you know they are paying to keep the lights on.
- The store was always supposed to be about convenience. You can have a profession alt or whatever on the same account. Want it on a different account so you can easily trade in cities and shit? pay for the convenience.
- Of course keep all of the current rules (no pvp, queueing, hardcore, etc...).
- If you make it like a glyph that shows up as a buff, players will police this for you. see someone without the buff running around with multiple accounts, report. Call it something silly like, glyph of multiple/split personalities.
- Make it cost like 200-300 tokens. And if someone wants to pay 30 bucks for 10 accounts each, perfect, cloud costs aint cheap.
- The turtle dono shop got stale by the end and the team was asking for feedback from the playerbase for what else could be added. This is perfect, because you can add it here now, but not once its live and people have invested their time into it...its difficult to start charging for something that used to be free. but if you don't, it will get out of hand here as well.

Also, no matter what any Dev - GM or anyone else state
You can easily multibox on the same pc, completely undetected

Personally i have reported myself while multiboxxing on several accounts and they couldnt tell

Are 36 slotters turning the game into p2w? repair bots, banks, auction houses? The server's gotta make money somehow, the question I guess is where you draw the line...

heh, prolly got bigger fish to fry... still, if they say its not allowed the vast majority won't do it. If it's free, a second account becomes almost mandatory

I think there are quite a few players who enjoy this playstyle, and having a server specifically for multiboxing would give us a place to play without affecting players who prefer the standard experience. Thanks for considering it!

There’s a wise saying: "If you can't control it, lead it." The Turtle team devised a solid system for managing multiboxing; changing it would mean breaking something that works well. 90% of multiboxers are simply people leveling up their alts. Want to help the project cover its costs? Then propose a paid option for instantly reaching level 60—and 90% of multiboxers will vanish from the game. When you're leveling your tenth-plus alt, redoing all those familiar quests is tedious; that’s why people run multiple clients simultaneously—to speed through a process they find boring.

The way I see it, this wasn't a post about alts .. it was about multiboxing.

We, as multiboxers, aren't leveling alts; we're leveling different teams of mains.

I don't do it for gold, PvP ranks, or to take shortcuts. I do it for the challenge of clearing dungeons and raids on my own. The fun comes from managing every role yourself .. DPSing, tanking, taunting, cleansing, healing, and making the right decisions in the moment.

The idea that multiboxers are somehow ruining the economy doesn't really match my experience. If there's any economic advantage, it's simply being able to earn enough gold to buy the best gear, consumables, and enchants needed for leveling. Beyond that, the real investment isn't farming ... it's learning.

Most multiboxers spend far more time figuring out how to clear trash packs, survive the first AoE heavy pull, or beat the first boss in a dungeon than they do thinking about gold. Choosing the right team composition, refining strategies, and overcoming encounters that weren't designed for one player to control is what makes multiboxing rewarding. Every new team is a new challenge to solve, not just another set of characters to level.

Adding it to the donor store seems too much, while yes the bags and other things are a minor form of pay to win. That would push it too far over the edge.

I was one of those who didn't like the blanket ban to boosting, it seemed like overkill.

But i must admit i wish it was just allowed in cities and dungeons.

Or at least tag aoe boost lvling in the open world should not be allowed imo.

Dualboxing in the open world is a bit of an eyesore even if the multiboxer invites you to complete whatever quest or objetive you were aiming for.(that doesnt always happen)

Met a paladin tag boosting with a 60 mage while questing in dusckwood yesterday, he was effectively camping all the mobs in the crypt there. He did help me with the quest so fair enough but it still felt pretty lame to me.
No offence to him as he didnt really break any of the current rules but it's how i feel.

Heck i got a 60 mage too! It's my main even. I could do the same thing, but i don't. Not in the open world.

Doing so in the open world just feels really meh to me, and not something i will do beyond maybe helping myself with an elite quest every now and then.

If i dualbox in dungeons i don't bother anyone else, that i don't see a problem with.

In fact i would like to see a rule that says, you can dual box as long as you don't bother anyone else while doing so or something to that effect.

All that said, they went back on the rulechange so i doubt it will be changed again anytime soon. And i definitely still think the blanket ban was too much.

multiboxing is allowed, synchronized button inputs across all accounts is banned. this makes it so you can have 2 accounts for like ez mode levelling your new character by leaving them on follow on your level 60 on another account, but you cant run 5 elemental shamans and one shot players with 5 chain lightnings at the same time.
