Multiboxing was rampant on turtle wow. It got way out of control. There was no way to stop it though because once you allow people to have two accounts (as per current turtle and now octowow rules) you cant then take it back. difficult to remove something people have gotten used to and invested time in.
I see the same is starting to happen here. Already lots of people running around with two accounts.
No better time to define these rules than a beta (early beta at that), when things are still subject to change.
My recommendation would be to add it to the dono store. I know I know, but think about it:
- This already takes care of more than 90% of cases.
- It supports the server.
- If you see someone running around with more than one account, at least you know they are paying to keep the lights on.
- The store was always supposed to be about convenience. You can have a profession alt or whatever on the same account. Want it on a different account so you can easily trade in cities and shit? pay for the convenience.
- Of course keep all of the current rules (no pvp, queueing, hardcore, etc...).
- If you make it like a glyph that shows up as a buff, players will police this for you. see someone without the buff running around with multiple accounts, report. Call it something silly like, glyph of multiple/split personalities.
- Make it cost like 200-300 tokens. And if someone wants to pay 30 bucks for 10 accounts each, perfect, cloud costs aint cheap.
- The turtle dono shop got stale by the end and the team was asking for feedback from the playerbase for what else could be added. This is perfect, because you can add it here now, but not once its live and people have invested their time into it...its difficult to start charging for something that used to be free. but if you don't, it will get out of hand here as well.
