**Possible false-positive linked-account / multiboxing flag – family of 3**

Hi OctoWoW team,

I originally posted this in Support here:

https://octowow.st/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1801

I am posting here as well because the issue is still ongoing and, after extensive testing, I am concerned that our accounts may have been automatically linked or flagged.

We are **three real people from the same family**:

* father
* mother
* our 7-year-old son

We use **three separate PCs and three separate game accounts**.

Each person independently controls their own character. We are **not multiboxing**, we do not use input broadcasting, synchronization software, macros to control multiple clients, or any other multiboxing tools.

We simply wanted to play WoW together as a family. In particular, I was really looking forward to finally introducing our 7-year-old son to World of Warcraft.

The problem is that we now receive:

**“Disconnected from Server”**

immediately after entering the correct password.

At first, at least one of our accounts could still log in. Now none of us can.

Could a GM please check whether our three accounts have been **linked, automatically flagged, locked, or otherwise blocked on the authentication backend**?

We do not receive an explicit ban message, so I do not know whether this is actually a ban or an authentication problem.

### Affected game accounts

* `KlausUllrich`
* `FinnUllrich`
* `InesUllrich`

These are three separate accounts used by three separate family members.

If possible, please check the actual authentication/server-side state of the accounts and not only whether they appear as “Active” on the website.

Thank you very much for looking into this.

## Troubleshooting already performed

We have tried quite a lot to isolate the issue.

### Account / PC cross-test

* My affected account fails on my normal PC.
* The same account also fails on another PC.
* The password is definitely correct.
* An account that had previously worked was tested on my PC and also failed there.
* Later, the previously working accounts/PCs also stopped being able to log in.

So the problem does not appear to be limited to one Windows installation or one PC.

### Completely separate mobile connection

We tested the affected account through a **mobile internet connection**, separate from our normal household internet connection.

Result:

**Still “Disconnected from Server” immediately after entering the password.**

This is particularly important because it means the problem does not appear to be caused only by our normal household public IP.

### VPN test

We also tested with WireGuard VPN.

Result:

No change.

### VanillaFixes

VanillaFixes was disabled/removed completely for testing.

Result:

No change.

### Launcher / client

The launcher starts the client normally.

Versions reported:

* OctoLauncher: **1.3.7**
* WoW client: **1.18.1 (7272)**

The launcher does not report a crash when the login disconnect happens.

### DNS / website / HTTPS test

On one of the affected PCs:

`Resolve-DnsName octowow.st`

successfully resolves to:

`185.165.170.6`

`Test-NetConnection octowow.st -Port 443`

returns:

`TcpTestSucceeded : True`

And:

`curl.exe -v https://octowow.st/`

successfully establishes an HTTPS connection and receives:

`HTTP/1.1 200 OK`

There is also:

* no OctoWoW entry in the Windows hosts file
* no configured WinHTTP proxy

So basic DNS and HTTPS connectivity to OctoWoW works.

### Port 3724

We also tested TCP port 3724 from two PCs.

`Test-NetConnection octowow.st -Port 3724`

returned:

`TcpTestSucceeded : False`

on both.

We also tested:

`185.165.170.33:3724`

with the same result.

We understand that this test may not be conclusive because we do not know which IP/port the current OctoWoW authentication infrastructure actually uses.

### Three players on one household connection

Normally all three PCs share the same public IP because we are behind the same home router.

However, as noted above, we also tested the affected account using a **completely separate mobile internet connection**, and the account still received the same immediate disconnect.

---

Given all of these tests, we are concerned that this may be a **server-side account-linking / anti-abuse / multiboxing false positive** rather than a local client or network problem.

Again, to be absolutely clear:

**We are three different human players, sitting at three different PCs, each independently controlling one account.**

Could a GM please review the three accounts and let us know whether something has been automatically flagged or locked?

Thank you.

The server is currently undergoing DDOS attack so it will be going up and down for a few hours until it can be fixed. If you would be banned for multiboxing it would say so when you try to connect
