<GM> Rook

<GM> Rook has been telling people on the PvP server that WSG jumping isn't allowed.
Safespotting is the act of PvPing from an advantageous position that cannot be reached through regular jumping or walking. If you got to the position by using a spell, consumable, wall climbing, or other unintended means, it is likely safespotting.
Directly from the rules. WSG jumps aren't safespotting as any character model can do them and they require no consumables, spells or any form of wall-climbing which is the act of finding small "ledges" by using jump and then forward not forward and then jump.

WSG jumps are all forward jumps ; none of them are wall-climbing and all the spots in WSG can be reached from multiple other sides that don't require anything but walking — they can all be reached through regular walking if coming from above.

What's not allowed is being in a place that cannot be reached — not reaching a place faster because you've honed a skill that anyone can learn. Punishing people for being better at the game?

According to Rook we should fight Thaddius from under his platform and should fight Gluth from inside the tube since jumping isn't allowed ; Rook has "warned" several players. These players have already complained about it in discord and in guild forums.

Why is Rook, with obviously no knowledge of PvP mechanics, a GM on the PvP server and why is he allowing himself to warn players over his very special interpretation of a very clear ruleset?

Only PvP knowledgeable GM's for PvP server! If a GM doesn't know the difference between a jump and wall-climbing he shouldn't be moderating

Suggestion is to remove him from PvP server and only have GM's that actually are knowledgeable about PvP on the PvP server

This was sent after Shemp complained about me doing the Alliance-side GY jump. (Not even close to being a 'safespot'.

Alliance already lose 90% of BGs on Y'Shaarj by virtue of shamans existing (and some questionably conscious Alli players); do we really need to police the jumps that have been staples of the PvP community on pretty much every server for nearly 2 decades?

I am with Pish here. The wall jump is so antique it's just part of the vanilla experience.

And for the record it's no glitch, no safespotting, no hack  It's just a hole in wall.

Yes, it probably wasn't meant to be there, but everyone can use it and again, it's just a funny detail of the game we love <3

WSG jumps are a shit feature that was never intended and they were removed from the game later on for a reason.

Please punish anyone abusing it.

OP is a clown. Ignore him.

I understand you guys are in charge of your own server, and, can make up your own rules: however, by official Blizzard ruleset these jumps are allowed: Whilst Classic Cup is a thing of the past, this has been the most prestigious event Blizzard has ever hosted for Classic WoW WSG: In this tournament, you can see players doing all kinds of jumps, including, the Alliance GY pixel catch which Rook warned OP about.

Safe Spotting in the WSG community, is the act of reaching a spot where you cannot be targeted by another player, or, reaching an out of bounds position: This is usually done by griefers who intend to hold a match hostage, so, that neither team can possibly win.

Wall Jumping is allowed on official blizzard servers, and, can be seen taking place on the main stage during Blizzard events: There are some specific cases of wall jumps that's legality have been debated; the main culprit being, the infamous Alliance side Chinese Wall Climb, as this gives Horde uncontested access into Alliance side banana.

I don't say this to be rude, but, it is true that players on this server possess below average skill and knowledge of PvP; whilst there are some good players here with experience, the noise from the masses overrules them.

I humbly ask that GMs do their due diligence and research regarding WSG and it's nuances.
Thank you for listening and taking our feedback seriously as we do care about this server.

They literally removed this jump from the game in TBC. It's clear it was never intended.

Whether or not it was removed in a later expansion has no precedence on it's legality in the current version.

The fact that it was removed shows they didn't want it in the game. So it's perfectly valid to not want it in the game here, either.
