★ Gameplay Limitations
While playing on OctoWow, we encourage players to find the playstyle that suits them best and enjoy Azeroth in their own way. However, we have a few restrictions on multiboxing, PvP, challenges such as Hardcore, and griefing other players.
Multiboxing
Multiboxing is the act of running multiple WoW clients simultaneously (whether through a third party program, or manually switching yourself between clients). This can entail having multiple clients open on a single computer, or utilizing multiple computers.
On Nordanaar & Ambershire we permit Multiboxing with the following constraints and exceptions:
It is forbidden to multibox using any third-party software to assist in controlling the additional characters, or any other methods which allow you to synchronize your characters.
It is forbidden to multibox more than 2 accounts (2 characters) within the same map zone (Elwynn Forest, Wetlands, Mulgore, The Barrens are all examples of map zones). There are no limits on account/character count in Capital Cities.
It is forbidden to multibox if either character is participating in Challenges such as Hardcore, Slow & Steady, Boaring Adventure, Traveling Craftmaster, Vagrant's Endeavor, Path of the Brewmaster, Trial of Heroism. The only exception is characters being in Capital Cities (Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff, Undercity, Ironforge, Darnassus, Alah'thalas) for the purpose of trading, professions, teleporting, crafting, and other interactions strictly between the multiboxed characters.
It is forbidden to multibox with characters in the same zone if either character is flagged for PvP (including Warmode) even if you are not actively in PvP combat.
It is forbidden to multibox if either character is in a battleground.
It is forbidden to multibox in LFT groupfinder parties.
It is permitted anywhere (including the same zone) to use no more than 3 accounts/3 characters exclusively for the purpose of Summoning Rituals.
It is permitted anywhere to multibox as long as the above restrictions are not violated.
Characters found to be in violation of these rules are subject to being locked.
PvP Rules
PvP is a staple game-mode for any MMO, but over the past twenty years, Vanilla PvP has grown increasingly daunting for newcomers. Our goals are to reduce toxicity, encourage fair play, and lower the barriers of entry for new players.
The following are considered Unfair Play, and are forbidden on our network:
Win-trading, which is the practice of intentionally throwing a game to allow another player/party to win so that they may gain rewards.
Open world win-trading, which is the practice of intentionally letting a player kill your character repeatedly for the purpose of them gaining honor.
Faction betrayal, which is the act of intentionally healing or otherwise assisting a PvP flagged member of the opposite faction in your party when they are fighting someone from your faction.
The following are considered False Enlistment, and are forbidden on our network:
Using multiple accounts to queue on both sides so their faction can join, and then leaving without playing the match or not accepting the invitation.
AFK-ing during a battleground.
Refusal to participate in a battleground, where a player only occasionally moves to evade automatic AFK removal and passively farm honor.
Safespotting is the act of PvPing from an advantageous position that cannot be reached through regular jumping or walking. If you got to the position by using a spell, consumable, wall climbing, or other unintended means, it is likely safespotting.
The best way to easily determine safespotting is by asking “am I intended to be able to utilize this position?”
In the open world, players may fight freely from any position that doesn’t require hacking or other exploits to access.
HC Rules
Leveling Challenges on OctoWow are intended to add an extra layer of difficulty to the leveling journey, and further immerse a player in Azeroth. However, we have a handful of rules to ensure the integrity of these challenges.
It is forbidden to multibox if either character is participating in any Challenges, such as Hardcore, Vagrant, Slow & Steady, Boaring Adventure, etc — characters found to be in violation of this rule are subject to being locked.
Characters participating in the Hardcore challenge are forbidden from being boosted by players outside their group, even for free. This rule does not forbid one-off “natural” encounters, rather it bans a continual and intentional alleviation of the challenge.
We have implemented numerous safeguards and protections to ensure that Hardcores are unable to be flagged outside of their own direct action. Players will not be punished for killing Hardcores if they are flagged for PvP.
Griefing
Griefing refers to the act of intentionally ruining the experience of another player beyond the normal gameplay loop. To ensure the game remains enjoyable for players of all different levels and types, we have forbidden a handful of behaviors:
Farming quest givers, flight masters, important quest objectives, or otherwise important NPC's for long periods of time and blocking other players from accepting or turning in quests.
Impeding a player by following them around and tagging mobs they need to kill for a quest.
Kiting a group of mobs into another player's (AoE) spells in order to kill them.
Interfering with any player trying to complete The Balance of Light and Dark or the Stave of the Ancients quest chain.
Dropping infernals and doomguards on a group of players in low level zones.
